Pop brought out the best in everyone. That was his gift. He loved life and shared himself with the people he knew and cared for. It was impossible not to love him back. We have lost a great and bright source of light in our lives but Pop shines on in everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

June 1983, in a New Year's club on 2nd Street, at daughter Kim's 8th grade graduation party. Moving to the music, fueled by booze, smiling&gyrating, sweaty, virtually shirtless -- the epitome of "living." He was dubbed "Dancing Disco Dad" that night by Kim&her friends. And that's how I, one of those friends, will always remember Mr. Curtin.

Dear Ellen and family,

Ed was one of nicest and kindest people I've ever had a chance to work with. At the Inquirer there were two things I could always count on, Eddie's help and his bright smile.

If tears could build a stairway and memories we re a lane.
We would walk right up to heaven, And bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken.
No time to say goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it.

And only God knows why Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you. No one will ever know.

But now we know you want us.
To mourn for you no more.
To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten.
We pledge to you today.
A cherished place within our heartIs where you'll always stay.
