One episode I remember most about Uncle Ed happened when I was very little and we still lived in Philly. Dad let me answer the front door one night, knowing it was Uncle Ed. I DIDN'T know it was him, and all I saw was this enormous bull head staring at me through the door. (It was the year that Polish American did a "Lonely Bull" or some Spanish theme and Uncle Ed played the bull.) All I remember is being scared to death -- and Dad and Uncle Ed laughing about it afterwards.

As a retired member of Polish American String Band I was saddened to learn of Ed's passing. I will always remember his ready smile whenever he greeted you. It was an honor to have marched with Ed for many years as a member of the band.

Our deepest sympathy to Ed's family, his brother Joe and all the members of Polish American String Band. He will truly be missed.

May he rest in peace.
