How we still miss you! Always remembered! May your moments be peaceful up there, it's quite a mess down here. I stay in touch with Joanie, she's strong and I hear her laugh sometimes, just thinking of her. She leaves me long whatsapp voice messages, so good to hear her! Wish we could hear you! You are for always in our hearts! Love Sien, Philippe, Dorine and Bart.

As every day, I miss you, but I loved April Fool's Day. I could always "get you" with one gag or another. I think you played along because I believe you liked it as much as I did. Well, no fooling around today. I'm so glad you aren't here to see what's going on in the country. Another virus has encompassed the world and we are still reeling from the trump virus. Send help. ;o) Love, love, love....Joan

Sweetheart, Five years today. I go on missing you but know that you are waiting for me and hope that I will be with you again soon. You know we never planned to be around this long but here I am waiting.... and loving you. I thank God for all the wonderful memories that come flooding back when I think of you, your heart and your generosity and, of course, your stamina!! You worked so hard, but always had time to enjoy life to the fullest.
Those who met you are still missing your smile - I hear that so much!
Keep a spot open for me love,
Joan

Mannys' journey in this life was vast and fulfilled-Trish and I were blessed to have been part of his journey here in France. He was always pleasant, kind and warm...And he always made us laugh. As much as we will miss him, his smile will always live in our hearts. Mannys' time here was filled with love and wonderful happiness and we believe he will takes those wonderful memories to that next place that waits for us all. Trish and Franco

To my charming Baron
Life and the south of France gave me the opportunity to meet you.
I will always remember our gourmets lunches and the way you would say:
Do we do lunch this week?
Your capacity in appreciating the small pleasures offered with a great bottle of wine , you who had the opportunity of living the Vie de Chateau and yet be modest enough to share those moments with your wineman
You will always remain in my heart.
Goodbye my Friend

I failed to add this stanza to the poem I wrote about Manny. At Joan's urging here it is.
He always looked so dapper, such a fine dresser was he
And he had the greatest collection of ties I ever did see!
If you knew Manny you will appreciate this.
I hopes this brings a smile to the faces of the ones that read this and understand what I'm talking about.

What a man, what a mighty good man!
As he entered into the house, I'd hear his cheery voice,
gently calling to his wife, "Hola, Joanie... I'm home".
She'd hearkened to his voice and greet him at the door,
they'd embrace, hug and kiss, for each other they adored.
His aim was to make her happy and to meet her every need,
ran errands, gave her flowers, even made her morning coffee.
So cherish the memories, there are so many more,
of the man who had it all, and the wife that he adored.
Our deepest condolences for your great loss.
I'm a better person for having known Manny.
Sincerely,
Maryanne and Mike Slebodnik

Then you decided to Re locate to Florida to a warmer climate ,
It was such a pleasure to visit you both in Palm Beach in your beautiful home last Christmas along with my family.

Uncle Manny,
I built a tiny garden
In a corner of my heart
I kept it just for lovely things
And bade all else depart
And ever was there music
And flowers blossomed fair;
And never was it perfect
Until you entered there.
With much love always, Mary-Margaret

Dearest Joan,
This probably comes too late for the funeral but here are some words I wanted to say, they are specially for you!
I hate to not be able to hug you and express physically our intense sadness on Manny's passing away. I would have loved to be near you and attend the funeral, you understand this is not possible.
I do wish to tell you that all of us, Dorine and Bart and ofcourse Philippe, are very sad to hear Manny has left us.
We have had a wonderful conversation about Manny and you a few days ago and all our lovely memories came back, all the wonderful moments we spend together, starting of with me inviting you for a lunch, OMG what had I done?
After I knew you for a while I knew that this was an enormous effort you had made, to get up early... and have a superb lobster at Daniel Desavie's for breakfast!!!
Off we went for many incredible lunches or dinners, our birthday (you and I) dinner at the Oasis in Mandelieu, with the incredible japanese beef and hot oysters, even at our house, a Christmas dinner or the surprise party "oysters" and seafood for Manny's birthday at your house!!
The pizza drink parties on friday's with the kids swimming (coming out all white of the paint in your terrible pool LOL).
Philippe taking Manny on a ride in a Jaguar E type for his birthday, all the drivinglicence code lessons we have done, the flood in your house, the builders, the superb winecave Manny had... you see it all comes back to food and wine, we were ment to meet and we were meant to enjoy life on the times we did!
Both Dorine and Bart told us that Manny was a little bit of their "Grandpa" since they had none nearby, Bart told me he has so many fine memories of Manny, he spoke about the Muhammed Ali picture in the dressing, he looked up as a little boy while changing for his bathing clothes...
The couch in front of the fireplace and THE CHAIR, the electric chair you could move into a very relaxing chair, it was their play!!! THE COKEBOTTLE with Manny's coins... a huge christmas present for them every year!
I am very proud I have met Manny, he for sure is one of the most important people I met in my life, with his knowledge, his good and wise advices, his compassion whenever we were down about our business and ofcourse his "connaissance" about wine and food, it made a complete picture on the father I lost and I found back in Manny!!
Dear Joan, we sincerely hope you will be strong and get through these sad moments, you have always been a strong and wonderful woman and even if we are far I hope our paths will cross very soon again, may your life be peaceful and gentle, keep laughing as you know very well how, I remember those laughs, I miss them!!
I love you and may Manny rest in Peace.
Sien, Philippe, Dorine and Bart.
