Fay Amsterdam Obituary
FAY BARBARA, (nee Singer), age 79, died at home in Bala Cynwyd, May 27, 2005 weeks before celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary. Beloved wife of Dr. Morton Amsterdam, loving mother of Dr. John (Dr. Alice) Amsterdam, Jane Amsterdam, Dr. Jim (Linda) Amsterdam and Joan (Charles) Chain; her 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren will sadly miss her. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends. She was an avid equestrian for over 40 years, and a gracious hostess to almost 50 years of post-graduate students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and patients and visitors from around the world. Services & Interment were private. The family respectfully requests that contributions in her memory be made to the Abramson Cancer Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, C/O John Glick, MD, 16 Penn Tower, 3400 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

Fay Amsterdam was a wonderful role model as wife, mother and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a great lady and I shall always miss her.

Although I never met Fay, I was connected to her through dialogue with her son Jim and her daughter-in-law Linda. Like any mom, she'd apply amazing strength and determination to create or enjoy a good moment during a painful day. She was inspirational, and she was appreciative of her blessings. She made life better for anyone around her.

We will all miss you Mom and Grammy. You were the perfect mother and grandmother: devoted, loving, full of fun and that great sense of humor! Enjoy your perpetual ride in the Wissahickon on Lady, Charlie, Krugurand...whoever you choose. We love you and miss you...Jim, Linda, and the kids.
