Mr. Kinniry was my 6th grade teacher at Cedar Road. To this day, I am impressed with how well he understood and how easily he worked with so many different types of students. I remember his smile, his firm but fair way with the "problem" kids, and his genuine concern for each of us as individuals. He earned the respect of many rooms full of young people, and he will always hold a very special place in my heart.

I recently learned of the sad news of Mr. Kinniry's passing. I met Mr. Kinniry around 1970 when he was a teacher at Cedar Road Elementary. Known for the ever-present bottle of Coca Cola on his desk as well as his warm spirit and creative style, Mr. Kinniry was a favorite of many students -- I was lucky enough to have him for Reading class.
Years later, when I was student teaching, I had the chance to observe Mr. K's class at Glenside-Weldon. It was great to see that he was still a creative and caring teacher. He gave me some wonderful advice and positive feedback that has stayed with me for many years.
My heart goes out to his family -- he was a wonderful teacher who touched many lives.

Fran & I went back to his days at LaSalle. He got me interested in running. He was a good friend & a grand person & I was stunned to learn of his passing. I'll always remember him.

Mr K and Family

The memory of Mr Kinniry goes all the way back to Cedar Road Elementary for me. That life changing year of fifth grade when I met one of the most influential people of my life. I say this because he was the first person to teach/live/breathe what we now call "don't sweat the small stuff" and he tried to instill that in all he met.
In later years I did not see him as often, but the couple times I did, I was always remembered - by name. That means something!
To the family I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and best wishes.

Mr. K…

Although I left Amercia for France many years ago, I never forgot how you pushed me to believe in myself and try harder in my studies. I’ll never forget the everyday presence of that 2-liter bottle of Pepsi on your desk. And I’ll never forget your musical influence on me, the day you brought in The Kinks – One For The Road! You were a unique person among the Highland Elementary staff, someone who truly stood apart from the rest. I’m glad that my final year at Highland Elementary was spent in your classroom and not with Mr. E!
