HOWARD S., of Dunwoody Village, Newtown Square, died on April 25, 2012 at the age of 100 years. Dr. Turner was born in Jenkintown PA.
He graduated from George School in 1929, Swarthmore College in1933, and MIT in 1936 with a PhD in organic chemistry. His exceptionally successful career in science and industry culminated with his appoint-ment in 1971 as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Turner Construction Company. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1973.
Dr. Turner is survived by his 3 daughters, Susan Turner, Holly Turner and her husband Don Carmichael, and Barbara Jean Turner and her husband Francisco Gonzalez-Scarano; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children. He was predeceased by Katharine Swett Turner, his wife of 67 years.
A Service for friends and associates from Dunwoody Village will be held in their Auditorium at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, May 2nd.
A Service for friends and family will be held at Noon at Swarthmore Friends Meeting House on the Swarthmore Campus at 12 Noon on Saturday May 5th.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to American Friends Service Committee (afsc.org) or the Carter Center (cartercenter.org).

I am a descendant of the Turner family. My grandmother was a Turner. My mom and I were so blessed to have had the opportunity to have lunch several times with him. He was a wealth of information with some of things we didn't know about the Turner family. He will be missed terribly.
