Dear Rich, Cara, Walt, Jarrod and Trent,
You are a lucky family to share the circle of love that you do. Iona is a
major missing link of that circle now,
but know that you all have an angel
in heaven. Her name is Nonie Jackson. There is no doubt in my mind
that she is up there watching over
everyone....still with her joyful
spirit. Still with her wonderful smile.I met Nonie through my sister Peggy Rhea....about 53 years ago. Peg adored Nonie. They worked together
at the telephone company, and kept
their wonderful friendship alive all
through the years, even tho' those jobs ended and their lives moved on.
Nonie and Rich were with us through
many family events....always with
loving hearts.
Peg has been gone for 10 years now.
I just know she was waiting in heaven
for Nonie to arrive.
Your loss is forever, and we are all so sad.....but be open to the love
Nonie will continue to send.
Our lives are all richer having known
Iona.
With love and prayers,
Julie and John Cleveland

Dear Richard and Family,
I have known Iona since she was in HS as she was my cousin Patty (Pepino) Sipio's best friend. While I am about six years younger Iona and Pat would always come to my house in Overbrook after their piano lessons. I still remember how nice she was to her friend's Little cousin. Always smiling and loved by all my family. Living in Medford we would run into one another occasionally and she never changed.
My prayers go out to you and the family.
God Bless you,

Dearest Mother in Law
Where do I start? You accepted me into your family many years ago. It seems like only yesterday, but in March Cara and I will be married for 24 years. And how great they have been. You have been there all the way with us. Helping us, guiding us and keeping us on track. Your many trips to Long Island to see us. The holiday dinners, trips to the shore and Disneyworld. Taking care of our many pets from snakes to lizards, fish and dogs you were always there to help us out.
The love you have for your family and friends. The many hours you spent playing with Jarrod when he was a young boy. You knew all his friends and their parents and everyone liked you. Trent loved spending time with you and most enjoyed the nights that he would spend sleeping overnight at your house. He would plan it out and count down the days until it was time for him to spend the night. Those nights he will remember forever.
Jarrod and Trent two boys who had the most amazing grandmother. Two completely different personalities. J who hardly says a word and T who talks enough for both of them. They both love you very much and miss you.
Your nearly 50 years of marriage to Rich is an inspiration. The love that you two had is something Cara and I strive for everyday. You were never apart. Lunch everyday together, watching the Eagles and Phillies and going out to dinner with friends.
The thing that I most love about you is accepting me and my family into yours and allowing me to marry Cara. Cara and the boys are the most important people in my life. I see you in Cara everyday and she misses you so very much. You can be proud of her and know that you have done a great job raising her.
Kindness, love of family, loyalty to friends, compassion, strong in faith. These are just a few things that describe Iona. Anyone who has ever had a chance to meet her will tell you how wonderful she was. Never a bad word for anyone. Loved life, her church and mostly her family. I am proud to say that I knew her, LOVE her and that I am part of her family.
We will forever miss you,
Love.

Dear Poppy, Mrs and Mr Doughty, Jarrod, and Trent,
I will be forever grateful for the amazing role that Mom Mom played in my life. It feels like yesterday when me and Jarrod would be running around outside with Mom Mom always watching us and joining in with whatever we were doing. It was always amazing to feel as if I had a Grandma across the street from me when I didn't have mine around. It goes without saying that she was one of the most kind and caring women in the world, and I was extremely lucky to have her as such a huge part of my childhood. I am truly sorry for your loss, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Cas

Dear Rich, Cara, Walt, Jarrod, and Trent, words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I fondly remember Iona outside playing with Jarrod and they both would have every ball and sporting equipment pulled out from the garage, and Iona being the lovely woman she was would call Cas over to join, which he did enthusiastically.. She was a great sport...made me tired just watching her play and always with a beautiful smile on her face. I will cherish the times I was fortunate to have spent with her. She was a dear, kind woman who loved and was loved by many. We love you all and you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mr. Jackson, Cara, Walt and family,
Our heart is broken. Your loss is our loss…the world's loss. Iona was a beautiful spirit on this earth and truly made each time you saw her, a better day with her big smile and laughter.
My personal 3 most cherished memories of Iona will always be:
1. Seeing she and Mr. Jackson at the Doughty house, always the sporty looking couple- always filled with energy- filled with life….always together.
2. Over the many years- watching her on any given day, across the street at Walt and Cara's home, watch her grandsons play. Sometimes she'd be sitting, sometimes standing, and often times playing with them herself!! She took such joy in Jarrod and Trent, and her love and involvement with them was inspiring.
3. My recent visit with Cara while Iona was in rehab. I had always known Iona in the role of Mother and Grandmother. On this day I witnessed the roles between she and her daughter switch. I saw Cara become the Mother. The pure and beautiful bond between the two was palatable and moving beyond words. With Cara and Iona, it was impossible to know where one stopped and the other started. They were a pair...one heart. They truly had one of the closest and most special relationships I have ever known in my lifetime.
We are so very sad she is no longer with us, but are comforted to know that THIS was a woman who was truly and deeply loved by many during her lifetime. We pray that gives you some small sense of comfort at this time.
Our Love and Friendship Always,
Lori Grossmann
