Jacqueline Jerrehian Obituary

Jerrehian Jacqueline August 14, 1934 - July 1, 2025 Jacqueline Jerrehian, 90, of Haverford, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly, surrounded by her loving family. Jackie grew up in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Louis and Clara Moratelli. She always dreamed of moving to the big city, and that dream became a reality when she left to attend nursing school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, Aram Jerrehian, Jr., at a fraternity party. After graduating in 1955, Jackie worked as a nurse in Philadelphia and Los Angeles before marrying Aram in 1958. While raising their three children, Jackie volunteered extensively, including driving for Wheels Medical Transportation and serving on the board of Inglis House. Later, she enjoyed a successful career as a broker and real estate agent with what is now BHHS Fox and Roach Realtors for almost 40 years, where she prided herself on handling her many clients' real estate needs with care and expertise. Jackie was involved with many groups reflecting her interests throughout her life, including most recently the Villanova Garden Club, the Academy of Vocal Arts and her beloved "book club", which had traded reading and discussing books for laughter, conversation and friendship decades ago. Jackie was adored by her family and friends old and new and loved spending time with them - hosting beautiful holiday celebrations and elegant dinners, trying new restaurants, attending parties, and enjoying live theater. She never turned down an invitation, often throwing her children into the car for a spontaneous drive to Maine or a quick day trip anywhere, and even now was looking forward to a busy summer. She was also an avid walker until the end, often covering 5 miles a day in Ocean City, New Jersey, or Naples, Florida. Jackie was known for her sense of style and her love of shopping - always in pursuit of the perfect bargain - originally at the much-missed Loehmann's and eventually at T.J. Maxx, which she visited so often she started referring to it as "the library" when asked where she was. Jackie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Aram Jerrehian; her three children: Amy Jerrehian, Dean Jerrehian (Jodi Schatz), and Ellen Conybear (Jeff); and her six grandchildren: Matt, Emma, Charlotte, Adrianne "AK", Jack, and Caroline. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Martell. A Celebration of Jackie's Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Gesu School (www.gesuschool.org) or A Better Chance in Lower Merion (www.abclowermerion.com). Please enjoy a gin martini in memory of Jackie if you are so inclined.

As our daughter, Jennifer Lindner, mentioned in her lovely thoughts to the Jerrehian family, our daughters went to school together starting at a very young age and continue to be friends to this day.
While Jackie and I did not see each other very often, when we did, it was as though time had stood still and we simply continued from where we left off - laughing, hugging and kissing goodbye!
Alexis, our Down Syndrome daughter, and I recently saw Jackie in Staples. We started to talk and laugh and laugh some more as always! She was so excited that she and Aram had just turned 90, and she attributed it to walking everywhere for everything - Aram and Ellen told me a very impressive daily 7miles!!
When we were leaving, we laughed, hugged, kissed and said goodbye - not knowing it would be the last time, but I know now it was Divine Intervention that brought us together; and for that, I am grateful.
When you were with Jackie, you always felt so good - she was the kind of woman you wanted to be with. As we were leaving, Alexis said "Mommy, it is good to laugh" and I told her, "it sure is Alexis, it sure is". Jackie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!

I send this message to you, Aram, because I knew Jackie because of you. You and I were classmates at the University of Pennsylvania - Class of 1955. I was sorry not to see you both at our 70th reunion, but only 7 brave souls showed for the event! It would have been so nice to spend time with you both.
I knew Jackie as your wife, and I can see that the loss was mine - that I did not know her as a friend as well. After all, she too was a Class of 1955 member! We were just in different schools at Penn.

I know only too well that your loss is great. Maybe more so because of the frustration that she was well, and just fell victim of an accident. After such a long and happy marriage, these coming days, weeks, etc will be quite difficult without your wonderful life's partner - and I know this from experience. But I am envious of you having one another in love and marriage for such a long time. Donald and I had only 56 years together.

Aram, I send you my very best wishes for the long days and night to come. And I am so happy you have the blessing of children and grandchildren to help one another through this time to follow.

I am thinking of you.

To Aram - I just read about your loss the other day and had been thinking of you since the fire at the Art Alliance where I first exhibited "Dick & Jane" and the time you lent me a rug to put in the gallery to show off my sculpture. To the whole Jerrehian family,

I am so saddened to hear about your loss. I give my deepest condolences. My heart, thoughts, and prayers goes to the entire family. I know I didn't see her as much, but working for a company for over 18 years, it still hits a little bit. Especially knowing that the "J" in Jade is no longer here. It just mskes you feel a type of way. But, after reading her life story, I know she left her legacy and will always be remembered and live on in your hearts.

Jackie was the classmate and close friend of my mother (Connie) at the University of Pennsylvania Nursing school. Following Nursing school they both moved out to California and shared an apartment in West Hollywood until my mother met and married my father. Not only did they share an apartment, but they shared the same birthday and I learned they always called or talked with one another on their birthday virtually every year. I first met Jackie, Aram and their Children during a family vacation trip to Pennsylvania and the Jersey shore where we stopped at their home. However, it was later during a 5 year period in the 1980s when I lived in Philadelphia that I really became acquainted with her and Aram well. During that time they treated me like family and I will never forget her hospitality. It was always a joy to be around Jackie. When my mother suddenly passed away in late 2020 and my wife and I buried my mother in Raubsville, PA just north of Philadelphia, it was she and Aram who offered my fiancée and me comfort, taking us to dinner on the patio of Merion Cricket club when social gatherings were being discouraged. I send my condolences to Aram, Amy, Dean and Ellen as well as Jackie's grandchildren. I know your loss is great, but I hope you will take solace in the full life your wife/ mother/ grandmother enjoyed during her 90+ years and your sorrow will give way to wonderful memories of her. Somehow I believe Jackie is reminiscing with my mom this very instant and that gives me solace.

Aram and Family-
We are so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful person. Jackie was so classy, kind, genuine, and soft. We loved getting to know you two this past year in Naples. You would have never known Jackie was 90. She was the epitome of great health. She walked all over Naples. Our hearts are sad hearing the news of her passing. You two were definitely soul mates. You could see and feel the love and respect for each other. We know this is a huge loss for you, your kids, grandkids, and friends. Sending our love and prayers to you all.

Jackie and my Mom were friends for years, and I´m thankful for the many fond memories as a result, especially of time spent in Ocean City. Taken too soon.
