JAMES GOWEN Obituary

GOWEN JAMES J., JR. 72, of Philadelphia PA, passed away suddenly on April 6, 2023. Jim was born in Lansdowne, PA, on February 8, 1951 to parents James and Marie (née Owens) Gowen. He grew up in Springfield, PA, and attended Cardinal O'Hara High School. After graduating from Temple University in 1974 with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film, he worked for various local production firms. Jim was a loving husband to Debbie, married for 36 years, and a proud father to daughter Emily and son-in-law Peter Erickson. He adored doting on his granddaughter, Loie. His career spanned more than four decades and included directing and producing video and film, writing for advertising, and marketing and sales for technology firms. In his retirement, he became politically active and participated in voting drives for local democratic candidates. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, one of his ultimate passions was the Philadelphia Phillies. He counted down the days until the season opened, and occasionally made the trip to Florida to watch spring training. Jim had a wide landscape of friends, many of whom regarded him as family. He was known for his warm presence, genuine curiosity, and ability to make anyone feel at home. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his siblings; Therese Ingle (Tom), Gerard Gowen, Michael Gowen (Paula), Nancy Grasso (Paul), Joseph Gowen (Kevin O'Reilly), cousin Ed Carr (Christie), and many nieces and nephews.

So sorry to learn of Jim´s passing.
Spent many hours at the Gowen home growing up. I last saw Jim a few years ago and still such a gentleman. He will be missed by many but he lives on in our memories. Rest in Peace Jimmy!

Jim was a very sweet man, always eager to engage in any conversation. Loved his family, bragged endlessly about his daughter and granddaughter. My thoughts and prayers are with Debbie, Emily, and Loue. He will always be with you
