My father, Walt Jackson and Jim were friends for over twenty-eight years; Working and living together at the firehouse, they were "brothers from different mothers". Jim's friendship was truly treasured and if I can speak for my father, he was thought of as family.  These words may be mine but I know they express all that my father feels;
Goodbye Buddy
A man of few words, I’ve not much to say, but our friendship was dear to me in so many ways. You were one of few, really one of a kind and the brotherhood we shared, not even death can unbind. I walked the road with you as long as I could, and now, 'Ole Handzus, rest as you should.

Jim some called us the "Grumpy Old Men" so who do I argue with now? Fishing, crabbing and shrimping won't be the same now. Tell you what, you stake out a claim there for me and we'll walk the golden streets out of town to the "eternal waters" from the spring and we'll catch golden crabs and golden fish and enjoy being rich "Grumpy Old Men".

Uncle Jim,
You are a very Special Person and will be missed by all. I really enjoyed my vacation at your house 3 years ago, you made our whole family feel very welcomed. I spent quality time with you that made me realize what special person you are. You made me laugh & cry while we drank the night away.
Gonna truely miss you Jim, you were a person that gave us many memories to cherish forever within our hearts.
Love you Always,
Your niece,
Diane

There aren't words eloquent enough to describe what you've meant to me. I would certainly not be the person I am today if it weren't for you and I hope you know that and I hope I've made you proud. Love you and will keep you with me always, Keith

Jim was a terrific person and all around nice guy. He almost blew my pregnacy news (apparently he saw a glow about me and asked our Uncle Johnny if I was pregnant)LOL.....and he also took me in for a couple weeks when I was having "Junker Joe" problems....always easy to talk to and always helpful....funny too! I'll miss him.
