I am so sad to learn of Fr. Kiernan's death. He was my teacher and spiritual director at St. Joe's Prep when I was a student there in the 1970's. He was a great example of what a priest should be! The Church and the Vincentians have a lost a good man and a fine priest but Heaven has gained a person with a great smile and a hearty laugh! You will be missed.

I am very sad to hear of Father Jim's death. He was my teacher, mentor and friend while I was a student at Saint Joe's in Princeton. He was always so very kind and patient - a true son of Saint Vincent. Be assured of my prayers.

The Kiernan Family,

We at the CAMM were very fortunate to have known your brother as our Director. He brought the Irish humor and his caring ways to all of us. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, for his love of Our Blessed Mother will always be remembered.

I was very sorry to hear of Fr. James Kiernan's passing. I worked with him at St.John's University starting in 1987 and found him to be a caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. His calm demeanor and amazing work ethic benefited all who knew him. His administrative skills were excellent but above all he loved being a priest and helping others.

My best wishes to his family. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I was very sad to learn about Fr. Kiernan's death. I used to play tennis with Father Kiernan and his father when I was a little kid. When Fr. Kiernan took the job at SJU, he encouraged me to visit the University. He met me on my college visit and showed me around the campus. He must've been a great tour guide because I earned my undergrad and graduate degree from SJU. We hung out quite a bit while I was in school...tennis matches, men's basketball games, and he often invited my roommates and I to dinner at his house. He always had a smile on his face and had such a great sense of humor. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to be his friend. He really made an impact on my life. Knowing him made me a better person. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
