Jeffrey Escoffier Obituary

Escoffier Jeffrey The family—and chosen family—of Jeffrey Escoffier is heartbroken to announce his death on May 20, 2022. He was among the first generation of activists to emerge in the wake of the Stonewall Riots, serving as a public intellectual and historian of the LGBTQIA movement, authoring half a dozen books and hundreds of articles. Jeffrey built queer spaces including, Gay Activists Alliance of Philadelphia, The Gay Alternative, SF Lesbian and Gay History Project, OUT/LOOK, and OUTWrite. He was active with CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies and faculty at the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research.
