WILLIAMSBURG - Lois Taylor Sawyer, 85, passed away November 30, 2015. She graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine and was an anesthesiologist at Riverside Hospital for 35 years. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, William David Sawyer; son-in-law, Antonio Corazzi; and a sister, Ruth Taylor. She is survived by her children, Larry Sawyer (Delores), Keith Sawyer (Princess), Carolyn Corazzi, and Tina Montoya (Edward); grandchildren, Lori Anne Roson, Mathew Sawyer, Elizabeth Sawyer, Brenda Montoya, Kimberley Montoya, David Montoya, and Lois Corazzi; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Bedford Taylor; and a sister, Kat Hilliard. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m., Thursday, December 10, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA. Tributes can be posted at www.vincentfh.com.

I've just discovered her passing, as I was out of state for the winter. She was my favorite anesthesiologist to work with AND I always requested her whenever I needed to have surgery. I'd lost touch with her after I left RRMC. She was a great lady with such a delightfully wicked sense of humor. May your memories allow you to feel her hugs always.

Lois shared the dissecting table with me and two others in our gross anatomy course at Bowman Gray medical school. She was a joy to work with and I have many fond memories. I am sorry to hear of her passing. Please accept my condolences.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Sawyer at RRMC OR. Her quiet dignity extended to all her patients and to the staff. Her smile and sense of humor brightened many days. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.
