During her years at Georgetown, Dr Di Palma was instrumental in educating many pediatric residents. I was one of those residents and became a better pediatrician because of her. I will always remember her as a kind, energetic instructor who was always looking out for us. She was always the first one to come to our defense when another attending was pushing us too hard. I learned so much about pediatric GI from her, but the most important lesson she taught me was that medical education didn´t have to confrontational and in fact worked better when it was congenial. To this day, I continue to follow her approach when I have students rotating through my office. My deepest condolences to her family but please know that her spirit lives on in those many residents she helped "raise".

I worked with Dr. Di Palma at Georgetown Univ. Medical Center, in Washington, DC for over 5 years in the Dept of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology. This was her first job after her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, and she made many friends at Georgetown. She was absolutely wonderful to work with and I fondly remember her wonderful humor and times we shared and laughed. I learned a lot from her while working for her and still remember her to this day. She knew my mother and other family members and she was such a great physician and friend. She had such a wonderful spirit and infectious laugh. I will miss her deeply. Rest in peace Joan!

Dr. DiPalma was my children doctor. When I
met her, my children were 6, 4 and 2. My children were diagnosed with F.A.P. She was my children's doctor until 18 years old. She was a caring doctor who reached out to her patients. I am sorry hear about her passing. She will be missed.

I´m so sorry for the loss of Dr. DiPalma. She was my daughter´s GI doctor for 6 years and I would travel all the way to the city to see her. My daughter has special needs and Dr. DiPalma was always so informative, patient, friendly. I could tell she loved our children so much and just wanted to help.

I´m so sorry to hear of your loss. Dr. Di Palma was my daughter´s pediatric gastroenterologist for 10 years. She was very dedicated, compassionate, and well-versed in the cutting edge treatments in her field. I am so grateful for her expertise. I am happy to say that my daughter was flare-up free for eight years and just this week was officially confirmed to be colitis free. I will always remember Dr. Di Palma fondly and with gratitude. I hope the many memories of her that you hold up her in your heart will bring you comfort during this difficult time. My deepest condolences.
