Dear Kurtz Family, I just found out about your Mom, I have no words that can convey the sadness I feel. Jan was a treasure, and a friend to the end! She was someone who was always there for everyone.
I will miss her.
Take consolation in the fact that she was so loved.

Lightening bugs, gas bbq, no fences in the yard, “jimmies” on an ice cream cone, Hershey's, the Amish, the Liberty Bell: all first time summer experiences for a California kid on the East Coast back in the ‘70s. The tour guide? Aunt Joan of course! The effort that she put out to show you the absolute best time possible and make you feel impossibly special was there from the beginning; something that she strived to give every single time I saw her. Only the best memories of a very special person. Sending the our best to the whole family. Love Greg & Karen Levin.

"In the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." My husband and I met Joan at the Enclave in Atlantic City many years ago and because of her wit and down to earth friendliness, we quickly became friends. Through the years we have shared both good and happy times and, unfortunately, some sad times together. It was Joan's love and compassion that alw ays pulled us through. May Chuck and Joan's family and friends find comfort in this difficult time by knowing the great legacy of love, joy, selflessness, and compassion she left behind.

My heart breaks to think that the world has lost such a light.
Many years have passed since I had an opportunity to speak with Joan, but she's always had a place in my heart. Her kindness, ready smile, and dry humor made a lasting impact on me, and probably on everyone else she encountered. She was quietly but unbelievably kind to me at a time in my life when few others had been, and I have never forgotten her.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank the Kurtz family for sharing her with me for just a little while. I wish you peace at this incredibly difficult time.

I don't know where to begin....I spoke with Joan on Thursday afternoon, when she informed me of her scheduled procedure on the next day, she asked for a small prayer and I replied that I would send a big prayer, I am soo sorry it wasn't enough... I met Joan thru my parents, Philip and Susan Marx, she helped my husband and I buy our first house, she was an amazing friend and support system for my parents and they loved both her and Chuck so very much. She was a pillar of strength for her family and her friends, she was a genuine person thru and thru. I could go on and on about how wonderful Joan is, but I believe that anyone who is on this website, also knows how wonderful a person she is. The world will not be the same without her and her angelic smile. Rest in Peace Joan. To Joan's Family, please know that our family will be there to help with anything that you may need, as Joan and Chuck were there for our family. Our continued thoughts and prayers to the Kurtz family....
