Dr. Joel William Eisner

Eisner Dr. Joel William Age 87, of Phoenixville, passed away on July 23, 2025 in Philadelphia after a brief illness. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and physician, Joel dedicated his life to family, faith, and community. Born in Philadelphia in 1938, he grew up in Pottstown and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Einstein Medical School. He completed his residency at Temple University, earning multiple honors, and later served as a U.S. Army doctor in Japan. In 1968, he married Judith Asher. The couple settled in Phoenixville, where Joel founded Phoenixville Medical Associates, helping to grow Phoenixville Hospital and practicing medicine for more than 55 years. He also founded the HMO Freedom Healthcare, served as a clinical professor at Penn, and was known for his tireless dedication to patients. Joel and Judy raised four daughters, whose families brought him deep pride. He was active in Jewish life at Congregation B'nai Jacob and Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El and a beloved presence in both the medical and local community. He is survived by his wife Judy, his four daughters and their families: Dr. Elana Eisner (Dr. Charles Pritchard) – Rebecca and Rachel Civan; Dr. Dina Green (Dr. Eric Green) – Julia, Jeremy, and Jordyn; Alyssa Eisner Henkin (Evan Henkin) – Nathan and William; Lauren Najarian (Dr. David Najarian) – Alex, Isaac, and Orli. Relatives and friends are invited to Services Friday, July 25 at 11:30 A.M. at the Congregation B'nai Jacob, 101 Manavon St., Phoenixville, PA 19460. Shiva will be held a the late residence Sunday, July 27 thru Wed., July 30 with Visitation from 2 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. and nightly minyan at 7 P.M.
