Mr. Jordan was the first basketball coach I ever had. He had a major impact on my life and those of a lot of young men. I am coaching now because of his example. I will never forget you.

Jake was an old friend of mine from S. Philly days when he organized and led a St Monica's team to the championship of the Marconi Plaza league AND the Philadelphia Industrial League Championships in the summer of 1947. His team included Paul Arizen, an unknown outside of the neighborhood, who went on as a walk-on for VU and won 3rd team all-American his sophomore year, '48, and the Naismith Award as the outstanding College player in '50. Jake was a mentor to Paul....and the rest of our crowd !! He really knew his basketball....and was the nicest guy on the court ....AND who shared his BB prowess with the guys in the neighborhood. I just phoned called one of his and my team-mates from those days, Harry Short, and informed his wife of Jakes' passing. My prayers will include Jake ( I go to daily mass) and may Jesus grant him the eternal rest that he surely deserves.

Mr. Jordan was an honor to work with and an honor to watch him touch so many of his students ' lives. Mr. Jordan was an inspiration to his players and always had his heart and soul in his coaching. His love for his wife and family was always evident. I truly wish we had many more "Mr. Jordans" in our schools today. May he rest in the arms of his wife and under God's protection. My heartfelt sympathy to all of his family members. Fond memories will remain in the hearts of his players.

Dear Dad,
You've touched so many lives in your lifetime, but none more than the lives of your family. You and Mommy taught us all to be respectful, caring and honest people. You've both given us wonderful memories to help us get through the hard days to come. And you taught us that the most important thing in life is to love. We know it wasn't easy for you being here without Mommy these past five years. But the one thing that comforts me since you left, is knowing that the two of you are together again, and with Jackie, and making new memories in Heaven. Thank you for being a wonderful Dad and Pop. I'll love and miss you always.
Love, Anna
