Back in my VU Trustee days, John was my closest friend on that Board. He and I thought alike on most of the issues that confronted that Board in that tumultuous period. I'll never forget the student 'revolt' when John. Pio Goggi and I faced off, along with Fr. Welsh, against some 3000 'hostile' students in the field house. His and my concilatory approach saved the day, according to the Philadelphia press AND Fr Welsh. John and Catherine offered to my wife Fran and me the hospitality of their home on one occasion in that period of time. My best wishes and my profound sorrow go out to all his family in this moment of grief. He will remain always in my prayers ! Ed McGehrin, '51 VU Board '69-'77
