JOHN R. GREENWOOD Obituary

GREENWOOD JOHN R. Died unexpectedly in his home at the age of 68 on August 26th, 2023 in Wayne, PA. Born December 14th, 1954 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Thomas Greenwood and Catherine Robstock Greenwood. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his older brother, Thomas Greenwood, Jr. He lived in Connecticut for the first 35 years of his life before marrying Diane Lechner Greenwood and moving to Wayne, where they would raise their two children and spend the next 30 years. John was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He loved the Green Bay Packers, UConn Basketball, the History Channel, a friendly game of pickle ball, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be forever remembered for his quick wit, generosity, and infectious smile. Beginning his career at People's Bank, John then spent 25 years with GE Capital and Kimco Realty where his passion for commercial real estate was always evident. After retiring as Managing Director at Kimco, he spent the next decade pursuing his love for real estate by restoring homes throughout the greater Philadelphia area. He often used unconventional methods to advance careers and transform lives. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his two children: Patrick (Carson) and Kristin, his four siblings: Chris (Dina Gottlieb), Jim (Karen), Katie O'Connell (Tucker), and Frank (Dee), along with 20 nieces and nephews. He was loved by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to John's Visitation Thursday, August 31st from 9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. at St. Katherine of Sienna, 104 S. Aberdeen Ave., Wayne, PA 19087, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Child at Rosemont Children's Scholarship Fund, 1344 Montgomery Ave., Rosemont, PA 19010. Arrg. I have the fondest memories of working with and learning from John at the 100 Prospect Street office in Stamford. We shared 4 offices on the Penthouse floor of that building and I benefited greatly from John's views and insights. Warmest thoughts to Diane and family.

We are going to miss John. His wit, hot humor and fun personality was a treasure to us all. Our 3 girls were the first of the next generation and John was always so warm and endearing to them which they remember to this day. We will always keep him in our memories and heart. My sincerest condolences to Diane and the Greenwood family. I had the privilege of working directly with and for John at GE Capital. He was a great mentor and a real character in the office. John had a sharp wit and I have fond memories of our time together. He was more than a boss and work colleague; he was a friend. Rest in Peace, Greenwood.

The qualities I admired about John. An unconventional thinker. A great story teller. An infectious laugh. Always took an interest in you in conversation. His ability to adapt and pivot. Always looked forward going to socializing with the Greenwoods. Was really struck when I heard the news. I have such fond memories of John. My heartfelt condolences to you Diane, Kristin, and Patrick. Cal
