I´m happy to report that The Chestnut Hill Hospital continues to serve the community. We continue to keep the memory of Dr. Roberts alive, and he is in our prayers on the anniversary of his passing. He remains a great inspiration to those who knew him.

I was fortunate enough to be a medical student on Dr. Roberts service at Chesnut Hill Hospital in the late 1970´s. A surgical resident accidentally cut him during surgery and I watch as he nonchalantly sewed up his own wound and completed the operation. Amazing. Keep your Rambos and Jason Bourne: Dr.Roberts eclipsed them all!

Today, I again thank God for giving us men like John Roberts. I continue to be inspired by his leadership and devotion to mankind and I carry his memory, and other physicians like him who served at Chestnut Hill Hospital, as my mentors. A man has not truly died until he is forgotten. I will remember him fondly and respectfully for as long as I am allowed by God to walk this Earth.

On the anniversary of his passing, let us remember a truly great man for others; John Roberts, M.D. It´s fair to say that by saving my life, he changed my life....and those who follow in my footsteps.
A truly honorable man who will be remembered for generations to come. Rest In Peace with God for all eternity Dr. Roberts.

Dr. Roberts saved my life in 1980. I had a very rare kind of tumor as a teenager. Later in my life I went into the healthcare profession largely due to the admiration I had for Dr. Roberts, and Dr. Ed McGlaughlin, his associate at the time. He was a truly great physician and gentleman. I´m very grateful to have known him.

We were so saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Although we only came to know Jack later in his life, when he and Nancy started dating, we were blessed by the time we had together. We especially enjoyed Nancy and Jack's wedding at Good Shepherd, our little country church in Bluemont, which they adopted as "their special place". They were just as cute as first-time newlyweds. And we were honored to host their wedding reception at our home in Bluemont, where we were even luck enough to have Jack share a few blows on the horn. It was truly wonderful to see the love that he and Nancy shared in their late life romance. We will miss you Jack. Rest in Peace in the glory of the Everlasting.

I once asked my Uncle Jack why he would operate on his own family (which he did), and he told me that as long as it was within his abilities, as a surgeon, why would he want someone else to operate. It wasn't bravado or ego with my Uncle Jack. It was more a matter of fact. He also shared with me that he never stayed up past 11:00 pm while in Yale undergrad and medical school. For someone who graduated 5th in his class in Yale undergrad and 3rd in his class at Yale Medical School, I found this to be absolutely amazing and I understood why he would operate on our family. For us there was no one better. We have lost our beloved Uncle Jack, and we have been blessed to have had him in our lives. I'll look forward to the day that I can join him on the grass courts of heaven along with my father, Capt. John F. Barlow.
