John Scheck was a direct report to me for 15 years. Amazingly, he oversaw the facility services of more than 670 of our sites. Two things amazed me about John's work ethic; No matter where I visited across the multiple states where NHS provides services, John had already been there and knew each location inside and out. The other hallmark of “Schecky”, as I often referred to him, was his background as a construction manager. This skill and expertise added to his strong ability to lead a very loyal Facilities team. Along with that, John had an enormous sense of mission, and he was universally loved and respected across NHS. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, Eileen, to his children who he loved very much, and especially to his dad, whom I had the frequent pleasure of sharing time with. John and his father were extremely close, which I greatly admired. Along with all of NHS, I will miss him, forever.

John, we met in junior high and played soccer together. I think soccer is what brought us together and helped make us friends. We became best friends in high school.

We worked together at Gino's and had many great times there with Bruce, beer from the Neptune, etc. Friday nights were always the highlight of the week; just getting together with Chuck Schmidt and Dave "Yogi" Schwass, spending time doing nothing, movies, or a soccer party at Bill Marshall's.

Every time I see a 1972 Monte Carlo, I think of you... and still will. But now with a tears in my eyes.

I was reading my yearbook from 1980 and your comments. They bring back good memories of times together.

I always enjoyed going to your parent's house. Your dad finally did warm up to me ("So, you are Gio" followed by long period of silence ;-). Your mom was always a gracious host and a warm person. I am sure she is now welcoming you again in heaven.

You have a wonderful wife in Eileen. A great family and a role model for many.

We all have many memories and stories to tell of you and how kind you are. Although you may not be here with us in body any longer, your memory will live on in our hearts and minds.

I will miss you John. We all will.

Love,

Gio

John Scheck was our leader in Facilities who's only goal each day was to do the right thing. We never encountered an ego or a hidden agenda. Our team would often tease him that he never said no to any request. Sometimes we would mumble under our breathe (some more than others) and then we'd go ahead and do as he directed. It always turned out to be the "right thing". He'd just smile when we told him that he was correct from the beginning. John Scheck was an honest, kind and a gentle man. The word "Aces" best describes him. It was my true pleasure to work beside you my dear friend. I'm going to miss a piece of you everyday.
