John, I love you -- you were the best seminary friend... and a great "best man" at my wedding... (even if that one didn't last). Blessings on you John.... keep a room comfy for us there.

John, you were a great friend..... I remember those beers at your house over lunch in seminary, with Geoffrey bouncing in the Jolly Jumper while we solved the problems of Dr. Mollegen's theology.
I just read of your passing in the VTS journal. See you on the other side brother.
Your friend and classmate,

This is a few weeks late, but.... John and I were fellow Alpha Chi Rhos at Temple University way way back in the day. He was chapter president the year after I graduated. Also a frequent attendee at our informal fraternity lunch reunions in Feasterville. I'd heard from John re his January surgeries and he expressed optimism about recovery. RIP fellow Crow.

I was both surprised and saddened to learn about John's demise in the Philadelphia Inquirer. His age surprised me,too. Let me extend my most sincere sympathy on his passing.
I met John at a Society of American Baseball Research (SABR) meeting many years ago. He and I were both friends of a paraplegic SABR member named Ron Johnson.I remember John doing such a fine job of officiating at his memorial service. We had a chance to chat at the reception which followed the service.

I knew Father John and his family as a resident at St. Francis Boys Home from 1971-1973. I also fondly remember Greta's lasagna she made for the boys occasionally. I remember many basketball games in the gym where one had better be cognizant of Father John's elbows while rebounding, LOL. I often wondered where Father John's travels took him after leaving Ellsworth.
For some reason I Googled his name this morning and sadly discovered he had passed. Father John and St. Francis were instrumental in taking me, a troubled boy, and helping me move forward on the path to manhood. RIP Father John. You were a good man that meant a lot to me and many others.

I have not seen John for a few years, and I am saddened by his death. I will always remember his smile, his laugh, his compassion, and the amazing life paths, often difficult and sometimes even tragic but still more often deeply joyous and satisfying, that we trod together. For me, and many others I suspect, John was that wonderful thing, a true compadre. My condolences to Robert and all John's family. Rest in peace, John, and rise in light.
