JONATHAN HACKENYOS Obituary

HACKENYOS JONATHAN Dr. Jonathan Hackenyos, 50, an accomplished physician and a Lt Col. In Arizona Air National guard passed away on December 13, 2021, in Chandler, AZ having battled neuroendocrine cancer since July 2020. Dr. Hackenyos was raised in Horsham, PA and graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BS in biology. Jonathan earned an MBA in Medical Management from St Joseph's University while also attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He served as Chief Resident/Jr. Faculty at St Joseph's. Dr. Hackenyos was also a Sr. Medical Examiner for the FAA. Dr. Hackenyos co-founded Ocotillo Internal Medicine Associates in Chandler and Gilbert, AZ in 2004. Dedicated to a life of service, Dr. Hackenyos served as a teacher and mentor with several higher education institutions in Arizona. He joined the Arizona Air National Guard in 2010 and was assigned as the Flight Surgeon for the 161st Operations Group of the 197th Air Refueling Wing. Dr. Hackenyos received numerous awards during his time with the Guard. Jon was the only child of William and Eileen Hackenyos. In 1997, he married his best friend and biggest supporter, Linda Crook. Jon and Linda brought three incredible children into this world. Jon was active in his children's lives, especially with his sons' Boy Scout troop. He proudly watched his sons earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons ages 21 and 18, daughter age 19, parents, uncle and aunt, John and Joyce Dougan, in laws, cousins and nieces and nephews. Jon passed with his loving wife by his side. He will continue to be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Services will be held in Arizona on January 28-29, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to further research in neuroendocrine cancer to: standuptocancer.org. and to help those with extra costs in their treatment of cancer: fullofhopefoundation.org and to the Boy Scouts.

I went to see my doctor today. I initially started with Dr. Hackenyos and I as very surprised, sadly, to read on the wall at his place of practice that he had passed away. Dr. Hackenyos was a great doctor. He had great bedside manners, he listened, he was engaged in ensuring that he provided the best care for his patience. I am so sorry for his family, especially his wife and children. I sent the family love God bless you all.

Dr Hackenyos was my physician for a few years. He was the ONLY physician to ever sit and listen and truly care about not just my physical issues but my mental health as well. I just found out and send condolences to his family whom he talked about with great pride. I´m heartbroken. Such an amazing human being. God bless.
