If we got bored we would head upstairs to the 'Kings Den' and pull out a guitar or something. Music always made us feel better. You always had a smile on your face, thats one thing we loved about you. we're going to miss you Joey, peace be with you brother, you deserve it, love Haig and Kim

Joseph, I seem lost for words writng this enrty. I keep thinking of the memories of growing up with you. You had a gift of making me feel comfortable around you and being understanding when I spoke to you. It seems like yesterday that you were taking me to gym to see Mr.Porter to teach me how to box. Reality is that life is short and that we should cherish every moment. And the memories of you growing up with you I will forever cherish. You were good brother who always watch over us and will continue to do so. We never like to say goodbye,so until we meet again may you rest peacefully Love your brother Michael

Joey and I have been FRIENDS since the mid 1960's, Playing on Thompson Street...near my house and his grandmom's. Joey and I both Grew up and went to work for Philadelphia Electri. More recently, We would occasionally talk on the phone, saw each other at AOH meetings or in the neighborhood.... Joe was a great guy, always had a good word for me. My parents loved him, he was one of the family when we were younger. So much of our lives connected, his Aunt Peg Hand Mc Intyre was my Godmother, his Aunt Jan was good friends with my oldest sister. I will miss Joey, but never forget him! REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Joe Hand at this time of sorrow. I'll always remember Joe as the smiling, funloving person I knew as kids on Thompson Street. He spent so much time there with his grandmom, where we called ourselves cousins, even though we really weren't blood related. He was an "all around" great guy. May God cradle you gently, Joe, as you rest in peace.

To Joey's family... I am so sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers. Joey was a much loved friend of the Kingsmill family all of his life. I'll remember him as my brother Chucky's funny friend growing up, as Fishtown's own "Rocky" figure in his boxing days, but most of all as a fellow AOH 51 marcher in the St. Patrick's Day parade a few years back. Joey held his rosary throughout the parade, praying as he walked and holding them up to show anyone looking on saying "This is what its all about! Pray this!" Joey always had a smile and a good word for you that uplifted you enough to pass it on to others.

God rest you Joey. You left the world a better place by your being here.

To all of Joey's family...I've known Joe my whole life. He was my first friend in Fishtown. We went to school together everyday and as we grew older we went our separate ways. One constant throughout the years is, that once he was your friend he was your friend forever. My heart goes out to Joey's family. He will be missed. May God bless you and Mary keep you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
