JUDY a professional roller derby skater and coach. Entered into eternal rest peacefully July 27, 2011. Beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Stephanie, sister of Carole and Sandy. Companion of Angela Marano, she also leaves nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Sat., Aug. 6, 2011, from 8 A.M. at the Church of St. Rita of Casia (cor. Broad and Ellsworth Sts.). Funeral Mass 10 A.M. precisely. Int. private. Please omit flowers. All donations are requested to Vitas at Methodist, 1300 Wolf St., Phila. PA 19148.

When I went to a get together at Gary Powers old digs in Brooklyn about 10 years ago, I was greeted very graciously by a very nice lady who identified herself as Judy. Later on, when Gary told me that Judy was Judy Sowinski, my jaw dropped. I have met few people as pleasant, engaging and polite as her.
We we sitting around the dinner table a while later and everyone was reminiscing about the Arena in Philly, and as a Warrior fan I said, Judy - I really hated your guts, and I will always remember the smile that followed.
You are loved and missed.

Thanks Michelle for keeping Jude's guest book online! We were close friends and I miss her every day. She was very special and if she loved ya she'd give you the shirt off her back. She was no nonsense and always gave me the best advise. I miss my confidant and being her buddy but I thank God every day for friendship that we shared.

Back In the mid 60's Iwas in training for roller derby In losangles ca. I remember Judy and how much Iadmired her as a skater and as a nice person she was. Inever got the chance to realy get to know her and wish that I had. Judy was an excepional woman and was well respected. I will never forget her . my heart goe's out to her famley and friends. Australian Roller Games fans will always remember Judy Sowinski for she was part of Roller Games history "down under" when she was sk8ing with the L.A. Thunderbirds back in 1966.
Judy spent just on 6 months in Australia sk8ing against the Texas Outlaws, Hawaiian Warriors and San Fransisco Shamrocks, she was well loved by her Australian fans and what a gr8 sk8er she was - i still hold memories of her sk8ing in Sydney.
