Dear Pat:
When I saw Leo's obituary in the Philadelphia Inquirer this past Monday, it brought back a flood of memories. While I did not know Leo, I did know your dad from his work with St. Mary's boys choir, and remember you for pinch-hitting with the choir for your dad when he got sick. I can't tell you how many times through the years that I have thought about your dad and said a little prayer in his remembrance. In looking at Leo's obituary, I am sure that your dad would have been very proud. I will remember you and your family in my prayers.

Dear Pat,
I was very sorry to hear of Leo's passing. I am sure he will be sorely missed. It has been many miles since the old neighborhood but it still saddens me when I note the loss suffered by one of the old circle of friends. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Pat -- Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Leo was a good friend and neighbor, and even through some pretty tough times always had an amusing story to tell or experience to share. We were honored to have him serve as sponsor for our oldest son's confirmation -- and the fact that Grant chose him speaks volumes of Leo's impact on the kids. I still miss hearing him singing up in his kitchen while working in the garden. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and country -- and I suppose that's about as much as anyone can aspire to in this life.
