I would like to express my deepest condolences to the entire Schopfer family for the loss of Louis Albert Schopfer, Sr. I have known his son, Louis Albert Schopfer, Jr. for several years. The encouragement Louis Jr. gave me when I was in graduate school was instrumental in my deciding on an initial career path once I received my Masters degree. Louis Sr. raised a good son.

My deepest sympathy to Mr. Schopfer's family. Mr. Schopfer was the principal at Glenview Ave. School when I did my student-teaching there, and I greatly appreciated his professional support. He offered me my first teaching job, as a Title One aide while I was finishing college. Mr. Schopfer was also my siblings' principal at Atlantic Ave. School, as well as my brother's 5th. grade teacher. Mr. Schopfer is part of our familiy's lore - a very positive part. It was our pleasure to know him.

To Mr. Schopfer's family -

My deepest and most sincere condolences to all of you in this tough time. I celebrate the legacy of your father's love of family, music, teaching.... so much of his life was about giving to others and sharing with others the gifts that God had blessed him with. Everyone around him was touched and moved and encouraged by him.

I know that we will miss him here, but he is in the loving arms of God - singing with your Mom and the rest of the angel choir. (Wow - that's a great image.... what a version of the Hallelujah chorus he must be leading, right?)

I wish that my husband and I could be with you, but our hearts and prayers go out to all of you.

With love,

Bob & Lisa Bransdorf-Napoles

John, Bonnie and kids:

Our deepest sympathy upon hearing of the death of John's father. I know what an inspiration he was to your family, and pray that you find peace and comfort in knowing that he is now with his beloved wife and with the Lord Jesus Christ for eternity! The most important lesson we can learn from our parents is to pass on the love to our children. We know that you have and that you will. Please know that your family up in Connecticut is praying for you.

So very sorry to learn of Lou's passing, but am glad he is now in the hands of God. I was fortunate to know Lou first as a student of his and then later in life, as a colleague of his. A kind, gentle, loving soul was Lou and that is how he dealt with everything in his life.

Lou inspired ALL with whom he came in contact..whether it be through his wisdom, talent, love of life and laughter or through his sharing of his family. Being a teacher, Lou taught me MORE than anyone through modeling his beliefs and love. He will be forever in my heart.

My prayers go out to Lou's family. May God give you the strength to get through this difficult time in your lives. May you find comfort in that he is at peace.

Lovingly,

Jayne Elfreth

To the Family of Louis:

I had the privilege to know, and be a friend of, Louis since high school (now over 65 years). I fondly remember being an usher at his wedding with Ruth Marie. We were both musicians, educators, Ministers of Music, colleagues in the American Guild of Organists and shared our love of music through all of these years. Most of all, through all of the years we shared our love, fellowship and friendship.

We can all be proud to have had Louis in our lives. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be missed by all of us.

I wish I were able to join with you this Friday to celebrate Louis' life but, unfortunately, my own health will not allow me to participate. I do want you all to know that my deepest sympathies will be with each and everyone of you.

My sympathy goes out to the members of the Schopfer family on the death of Lou Sr.

When ever I walked into First Methodist in HH I could tell immediately that Lou was at the organ. His music inspired me. I requested that he play for my mothers funeral which he was glad to do but his family matters came first and I understood.

He was a great help to me and my children when my husband died at the age of 37 and solved several problems for me with the children and I was always greatful. Please be assured that all of you are included in my prayers for our Good Lord to grant all of you peace and comfort. In Christian Love, Joan M. Walker
