Louise Kurtz Obituary

Kurtz Louise "Lou" C. Passed away on September 11, 2025. She was 73. Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Kurtz. Lou was born to Theodore and Theodora Czerniak in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Lou's parents moved the family to Jericho Mountain in Bucks County when she was 12 after having spent many years building their home themselves. She graduated from Council Rock High School in 1970 and was an English major at Millersville University. Lou and Jim met in 1974 and were married 1 1/2 years later. After college Lou went into personnel administration but found it unrewarding. So, after getting her Standard Poodle, Lido, she became interested in dog grooming. She moved to NYC for six weeks and went to grooming school. She then opened her own business, Country Canine Cuts, in the barn on their property. She went on to be in business for 30 years and estimated having groomed 50,000 dogs. She was "the dog groomer" of Newtown for years. She loved her dogs and also loved riding horses. While growing up in Jericho, her horse Teddy Bear gave her endless joy riding around the farmland and woods of Bucks County, and her passion for caring for animals inspired and guided others. She also loved the NJ shore where she and Jim had many beach getaways with their dogs. One of Lou's other favorite activities was to take car rides to explore the back roads and trails of the Delaware River valley. Most recently with her Belgian Malinois, Django. She insisted on opening the car windows to breathe in the ions as they would cross any of the river bridges no matter the time of year or weather. She always lent an ear to those who needed it, and her generosity and sense of humor were unsurpassed. Lou donated to dozens of charities regularly. She enriched all the lives she touched. She was deeply loved by so many. Along with her husband Jim, Lou is survived by her brother, Marty and sisters: Teresa, Tina, and Julia as well as six nephews and nieces. Family, friends and good acquaintances are invited to a Memorial on Saturday, October 11, 2025, to begin at 11:00 A.M. at the family residence. The Remembrance Service will begin at 12:00 P.M. Please email Jim at [email protected] for further details and to notify of your presence for services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Project K-9 Heroes at projectk9hero.org or the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research at lustgarten.org in Lou's memory. www.fluehr.com
