Mariangela Calabrese Obituary
MARIANGELA (nee Cartularo) on March 8, 2005, beloved wife of the late Antonio, loving mother of Teresa (Frank) Cartularo, Francesco A., Marie (the late Attilio) Longino, Rita, Ann (Charles) Lambiase, and Margherita (Frank) Feinberg, also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday after 8:00 A.M. at THE PENNSYLVANIA BURIAL CO., INC., 1327-29 S. Broad St. Funeral Mass 9:15 A.M. St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 9th and Watkins Sts. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing Friday evening 7:00 to 9:00 (Ample Free Parking). In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Vitas Hospice, 1900 S. Broad St., 5th Flr., Phila. PA 19145 or St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 910 Watkins St., Phila., PA 19148.

Grandmom,
We think about you all the time. I tell Isabella and Evan about you and share the silly stories and memories from our childhood. A year ago we were able to stay in your home and spend time together. Bella loved to see the pictures and hear mom, Aunt Ree and Aunt Ann's stories about growing up on Mifflin and their life with you and Grandpop. I wish that you could have met my children and that they could have known you. I tell Bella and Evan that I miss hearing your voices. Our Bella is named after you - Isabella Mariangela.

Miss you grandmom. Think of you all the time, see photos of you and the boys in their first year, they’ll be 17 soon and I wish they would have known you. You would adore them the way you loved all of us. I can still feel your soft hands holding mine and hear you calling me “grandmom” as you so often would. We were blessed to have you as long as we did but of course it’s never long enough. I love you always.

Hi zia Mariangela and Uncle Tony, Missing you both. You are two wonderful people with roots in Montepaone. How proud would everyone from our little town would be if they knew how good and hard-working you were and what a wonderful family you raised in the USA. You have made a wonderful contribution to the world by your hard work and good example for all of us that knew and loved you. Your children, grand-children and great grand-children have a right to be proud of their heritage. God bless you and all in our wonderful family.

Hi Mom:
every day I miss you more. Came to visit you on your birthday Sunday, Chick and I. We were there for FAther's Day too. I found those vases when I came on Sunday 7/11. I'll see you for the 2nd of August. We have so many more children to love since you left us, but this doesn't make us miss you less. I made bread crumbs last week. We still do many of the things we did when you were both here.

Zia, I wish you and mamma' were here with me to teach me how to make those delicious cookies. I have made two attempts lately and the dough is just not cooperating. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I wish you and mamma' would inspire me. Zia, i vostri dolci erano superiore anche a quelle della mamma. Il vostro "garbo", cioe', il vostro sapere fare e quello della mamma mi manca molto. Vorrei avervi vicina per aiutarmi. Le feste non sono le stesse senza di voi e di mamma'. Voglio ricordarvi con molto affetto cara zia. Eravate soltanto una giovane signora quando sieti arrivata in questa terra straniera. Nessuno potra' mai sapere quanto fu' difficile per voi lasciare indietro i vostri genitori e ricominciare cosi' giovane una vita cosi' differente di quella che avevate lasciato indietro. I was always amazed how my mom always remembered your birthday. You were such an important and integral part of her life. I used to thank God that she had you as her "sister" and someone to talk to. Both of you sacrificed your friends and family when you came to this country, but you built a foundation for your children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren that is strong and grounded in love and family. The two of you will not make the history books but I dare to say many of your descendents will remember and love you for years and years. You were always special to me and today I try to emulate the mother you were: giving without asking, loving unconditionally, patient and understanding. I will always remember you lovingly. Zia, zio, Sono le quattro del mattino e non posso dormire. Mi aveti venuto in mente. Il tempo passa come il vento. Vi ricordo. Soltanto l'altro giorno vi pensavo zia e mi venne in mente quando ci siati portati al Deli delle nove strati per comprarci del gelato. Ricordo che il gelato era in una piccola scatola pero' per un gelato era molto grande. Fu' una bella sorpresa per me e per Antonietta e non ricordo mai mangiare tanto gelato ad una volta. Grazie zia per la tua generosita'. Per due piccole bambine fu' un grande gesto e proprio indimenticabile. Spero di poter andare a dormire sono gia' le 4:08. Buon giorno e buona notte, zii. Did you like your Easter flowers? Chick and I had to come on Friday because I was working on Saturday but Rita and Cousin Rose and Teresa came to visit, then we all went to dinner together at Domenico's restaurant. we heard two brothers from South Philadelphia sing the old songs and then they came around to the tables and we talked about Southern and Bok and being Italian.
I miss you both so much but yet you are always with me.

Hello Mom and Pop:
Cousin Rose and Chick and I came to visit on Saturday. The little garden looks so much nicer now that they put in some plantings and some rocks around the downspots. Maybe the basilico will grow now when I try to plant it next year.
I used the greens from the pine trees in our yard and Paul cut off the lower branches from his Christmas tree and some holly from the trees in his yard so that I could make the arrangements. Cousin Rose picked up the silk flowers. I think they are very pretty and I think of you both as I make them.

Mommie, it is so hard for me to write through my tears, I miss you and Pop so much. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for his gift of you and Pop. I really do not know what to say. If you can see email in heaven please remember that as a family we all owe our lives and the love that we have to you and grand pop.
It is tough to live up to the standard for family that you set but I pray that as we grow up we remember that the greatest blessing we have been given is this wonderful family and we cherish it as it should be cherished.

It is amazing how quickly a year goes by. You are so missed and in our thoughts always. I had so wished that I could have had children for you to have known and loved, just as you did with the many of us that there were. I was told that children choose their parents when the time is right. I am not sure if I believe this,but do believe that if there are little souls waiting to join me I feel at peace knowing that they are spending time first with you and Grandpop.
