Mario Ciabarra Obituary

Ciabarra Mario Luciano Tarcizio Passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2025, a date marked with deep significance - it was exactly 60 years to the day he met the love of his life, Louise Caruso, in 1965. Born in Termoli, Italy, on January 17, 1936, Mario carried the heart and soul of his homeland throughout his life, finding joy in returning each summer to the country of his birth. Educated in Italy, Mario began his professional life as an architectural designer, specializing in industrial projects. In April 1966, he emigrated to the United States aboard the ship Michelangelo, arriving with hope and determination. By May of that year, he began a distinguished career with Ballinger, a firm of architects and engineers, where his dedication and precision left a lasting legacy. Mario and Louise met while she was visiting her family's hometown in Italy. Their connection was immediate and profound. Just over a month after meeting, they married on September 25, 1965, beginning a life of enduring love and shared values. Together, they raised six children: Mimi, Tony (with spouse Christi), Lilliana (with partner Jeff), Nicole, Christopher, and Mario Jr. (engaged to Alice). Mario was also a proud and devoted grandfather to Sarah, Rachel, James, Katelyn, Tessa, Cody, Ella, Celeste, and Selena. A man of deep Catholic faith, Mario had a special devotion to Saint Anthony. His quiet strength, humility, and love for his family shaped every part of his life. He took great pride in the achievements of his children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments with joy and admiration. Mario was an avid reader, a passionate bird-watcher, and a lifelong fan of World War II movies, which spoke to his reflective and thoughtful nature. Summers in Italy, surrounded by familiar landscapes and loved ones, brought him immense peace and happiness. Mario's legacy is one of love, commitment, and purpose. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his example, a body of work that speaks to his craftsmanship, and memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 9:15 A.M. until his Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, 1350 Vernon Rd., Phila., PA 19150. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Raymond Parish, Phila. and Archbishop Wood H.S. www.mayfuneralhome.com
