Mark Raines Obituary

Raines Mark Nov. 9, 1964 - Nov. 23, 2025 Mark Campbell Raines of Philadelphia, PA, died of congestive heart failure on November 23, 2025. He was 61 years old. Mark was born on November 9, 1964 to John Curtis Raines and Bonnie Muir Raines in New York City. He graduated with a BA from Wesleyan University and received his Master in English from Georgetown University. Mark was known for his intellect and sharp wit, skillfully teaching English and creative writing to college students. He is predeceased by father, John and brother, Nathan. Survivors are mother, Bonnie Raines, sisters, Lindsley Raines and Mary Raines, brother-in-law Samuel Park, his beloved daughters Sydney and Zoey Richardson Raines, and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to go to: The Leelenau Conservancy, 105 N. First Street, PO Box 1007, Leland, Michigan 49654 or www.Leelenau conservancy.org.

I´m so very sorry! Professor Raines was a sweet person. Our class was so shocked to hear the news. We all hoped he was okay when we didn´t hear from him. It´s sad to hear about his passing. Wishing the family strength and peace.
