MARTIN REED Obituary

REED MARTIN DOUGLAS Of Wayne, PA, passed away on July 8, 2025. He was 85. He is survived by two loving children (Douglas William Reed and Melissa Anne Reed) and three adoring grandchildren (Douglas Jack Wright, Zachary John Wright and Negussie Shawn Wright). He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen Jones Reed. Douglas graduated from Radnor High School in 1957 and Bucknell University in 1961. Following his graduation from Bucknell, Douglas and Mary Ellen married in Philadelphia, then moved to Germany, where he served as a Lieutenant and Paratrooper in the Army. He was a food broker for most of his professional life until he retired from that business in 1996. Douglas was a devoted grandfather to Douglas, Zach and Negussie, who nicknamed him "Dee." He and Mary Ellen spent a significant amount of time in Pittsburgh, PA, where their grandchildren were raised. He was an avid Eagles fan, cheering them on with his own son Doug during their 2025 Super Bowl win. Doug had a vocabulary that was legendary - words and ways of saying things that were completely unique to him. If you ever called Douglas on the phone, you know his signature phrase "Reed Here." Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11 A.M. at the CHAPEL OF PEACE AT WEST LAUREL HILL CEMETERY, 321 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. www.laurelhillphl.com
