MICHAEL CAVANAUGH Obituary

REV. MICHAEL THOMAS CAVANAUGH, O.S.F.S.
FR. CAVANAUGH, 71, who re-sided in Gerrardstown, WV, died Thursday, August 4, 2016. Born in Philadelphia in 1945, a son of the late Frank and Helen Bradley Cavanaugh, he was ordained in 1976. Fr. Cavanaugh had served on the faculty of Northeast Catholic and Father Judge High Schools, in Philadelphia, PA, Bishop Ireton High School, Alexandria, VA, Paul VI High School, Fairfax, VA and Salesianum School, Wilmington, DE. Father was currently Chaplain at Veterans Hospital, Martinsburg, WV. In addition to his Oblate religious community, Fr. Cavanaugh is survived by his brothers and their wives; Francis and Carlene, Dan and Cass, Paul and Mary Kay and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Dennis, preceded him in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 10, at the Oblates' Our Lady of Light Chapel, 1120 Blue Ball Road, Elkton, MD 21921. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oblate Development Fund, 2200 Kentmere Parkway, Wilming-ton, DE, 19806.
