I can't believe it has been 2 years and I only recently learned of Paul's passing. I worked with him for several years trying to develop protocols for the School District of Philadelphia following incidents of violence. He was a larger than life personality who seemed to know everyone. He will be missed by many of us in Philadelphia.

Peppy,
My wife and I just today learned of Paul's passing and wanted to share our deepest sympathy with you and your family. Paul was an extraordinary teacher, psychiatrist, leader, and mensch. He was the living spirit of Tikun Olam. He always dove into the heart of every issue he cared so passionately about and did everything in his power to make the world a better, safer and more caring place. He was inspirational to countless clinicians including myself, setting the highest standards. He leaves the world a far better place. We are so fortunate to have been part of his endeavors. Please know that we are sending loving thoughts your way. Paul was truly unforgettable.
With our sympathy ,

Paul was the keystone of our Psychiatric Annals symposium on idealism & social activism. His life was an enactment of those sentiments. His work with the PA Prison Society continued to the end of his life. His example has inspired me to remain active in criminal justice reform. I hope that others will react in the same fashion. Mrs. Fink and the family have my sympathy. His memory will be a blessing to us all.--Joe Silverman, MD, Altoona

Leslie and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family and I regret that my current physical condition prevented me from attending the Memorial Service today.
As you must know, I truly enjoyed working with Paul at Belmont and treasure the memories of our frequent conference trips we took together to Europe and Jeruselem.

I first met Paul in my teens when he was a colleague of my mother, Myra Levick. For the last several decades, I had the opportunity to form my own professional relationship with Paul as our paths crossed through our mutual concerns for the well being of children. Paul was an extraordinary advocate for children, passionate about justice and tireless in his pursuit of it. It was not only a privilege to know him - it was inspiring. Thank you Paul - for a life thoughtfully, compassionately and well lived. As a longtime friend to my family and me, we will all miss you! Condolences to Peppy and your family.

Paul and I were friends and colleagues for over 60 years. We studied for the Psychiatric Boards together, torturing each other with esoteric questions. Fortunately, we both passed the first time. We saw each other mostly at meetings over the years. To my regret, we did not see each other in March in NYC at the psych meeting. I will add that it was because of his invitation, I was appointed a full clinical professor at Jefferson. I will miss him.

Dear family members of Dr. Fink:

I have known Paul for many years, perhaps first as the Medical Director of Belmont. Most recently, I have worked with him on the Board of CeaseFirePA. He always was prepared with excellent ideas and directions for ways to work with family and children and for ways to change the delivery of mental health services, including prevention, to better provide for the underserved. He will be missed by so many of us. I offer my condolences to family and friends.

Paul and I became friends when we were six-years-old (Leidy School). I have loved and cherished my blue-eyed boy for 75 years. We were both young pianists as adolescents.

During the past several years, Paul and other Leidy classmates have enjoyed a vigorous online correspondence. He was brilliant and funny and brash and I will miss him with all of my heart.

His children and grandchildren are so fortunate to have had such a mensch in their lives and he was so proud of his family.

Dear family and friends of Dr. Paul Fink, I wish to add my condolences for our loss:
"El maley rachamim shochen bam'romim...
God full of mercy who dwells on high
Grant perfect rest on the wings of Your Divine Presence
In the lofty heights of the holy and pure
who shine as the brightness of the heavens
to the soul of Pinchas J. fink, who has gone to his eternal rest
as, without making a formal vow,
I pledge to give charity in memory of his soul.
His resting place shall be in the Garden of Eden
Therefore, the Master of mercy will care for him
under the protection of His wings for all time
And bind his soul in the bond of everlasting life.
God is his inheritance and he will rest in peace
and let us say Amen."

May the Light of public service to many in our area be a shining example for many in the field of psychiatry, art therapy, and psychoanalysis.

I was an art therapy student of Dr. Paul Fink in 1971-1972 at Hahnemann Medical College, and along with Dr. Myra Levick, and Dr. Vaccaro and Dr.'s Hicks and Brooks, I felt I was receiving the best of educations. I loved his Literature Reviews, especially when we looked into Anna Freud and many well known artists, and her knowledge of defense mechanisms, and Dr. Fink's knowledge of artists and their psychology. I was so happy when Dr. Fink chose one of my best friends, Ronald Hays to lead a new art therapy program in Norfolk, VA and enjoyed my visits there and seeing Dr, Fink at conventions. He knew so much about patients who were in such conflict about their sexual identity, and I am sure he helped hundreds of transsexual individuals during his decades in psychiatry. He was always so welcoming and personal in his communications. I am sure his family will miss him, and hope to see many professors and meet his family at his memorial service, as there is no address listed for visiting his family in the coming three days. Thank you Carol S. Carrino for pass on the sad news.

His fantastic and gregarious outgoing nature. Besides being brilliant, he had a uniqueness that was distinct. He was always the kindest and hospitable in all ways. SC

Paul was not only a brilliant leader in American psychiatry, but he was dedicated to improving the lives of poor disadvantaged children and adults. He was a gifted psychoanalyst who also worked for many years in the public sector, so that less fortunate others might be helped. He was kind, sensitive and thoughtful, and will be missed by many. His family have suffered a great loss, but so has our city.

My condolences to the family
