MOULDER
PETER VINCENT, JR., MD. age 89, of Pawleys Island, SC, died Monday, May 10, 2010. Dr. Moulder was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He received his BS magna cum Laude, at the University Notre Dame in 1942. His MD with honors at the University of Chicago in 1945, he received his MA with honors at the University of Pennsylvania in 1971, Diplomate AM. Bd. Surgery, Am. BD. Thoracic Surgery. He was an intern at the University of Chicago from 1945-46, resident in surgery, 1946-52, 52-53, chief resident in general surgery, 1952 from Inst to Prof Dept of Surgery 1952-68. He was a professor in the surgery department at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, 1968-72, University of Gainesville, FL 1973-79, School of Medicine, Tulane University., New Orleans, 1980-92 adj. prof. dept. biomed. Engring., 1984; emeritus prof. Tulane University New Orleans, 1992; clin. Prof. LA. State University School of Medicine, 1992-2010. Medical director Biosouth Research Labs 1992-2010. Recipient Alexander Vishnevsky Medal USSR, 1966, Centennial Sci. Honor Award U. Notre Dame, 1965, Gold Medal Law Sci. Acad., 1968, George Bloch Award for Excellence in Tchg. Surgery, U. Chgo., 2002. Fellow Soc. for Vascular Surgery(disting.) mem. Am. Physiol. Soc., Am Assn. Thoracic surgery, Am. Surg. Assn., Am. Soc. Clin. Surgery, Am. Coll. Chest Physicans, Am. Coll. Cardiology, Am. Heart Assn., Cen. Surg. Assn., Soc. Clin. Surgery, Soc. Univ. Surgeons, Soc. Thoracic Surgeons, Internat. Cardiovascular Soc., So. Thoracic Surg. Assn., La. State Med. Soc., Surg. Soc. La., Chgo. Surg. Soc., Tulane Surg. Soc. (founder), Midwest Chest Club, Cardiovascular Surgeons Club, Roman Catholic. Achievements include having two patents in field.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Moulder of Pawleys Island; two daughters, Mary Jaeger and her husband Bob of Pawleys Island and Jane Kauzlarich and husband Michael of St. Louis; sons, Peter Moulder, III and his wife Donna of Pittsburgh and James Moulder and wife Carlotta of Burke, VA; seven grand-children, Anne, Bill and Tim Jaeger, Alicia Theresa, Peter, and Glenn Moulder.
A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
