I grew up a block from OCJCC and got to know Rabbi early on. I was bar mitzvah there, as were my brothers Larry and Michael. My entering Hebrew school and attending services created the magnet that drew my parents into the synagogue. My mother, Phyllis, worked as a secretary for the rabbi and later ended up as president of the Sisterhood. And my father, Elkin, ultimately became president of the Mens Club. Our entire family got to know the Rabbi and Blanche as well as his sons. Rabbi was a kind soul, a wise teacher, and a rock of the community. May his memory be blessed.

I was recently thinking about Rabbi! I met with him in 1996 when I was looking to become a Jew by choice! He was so thoughtful, patient & understanding throughout the process! And a year later he married us! My husband & I just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary this past May 25th!
Rabbi was such a caring person! He holds a very special place in our hearts!
We´re so very sorry for your loss! Maybe his memory be a blessing to his family!

I miss Rabbi Romirowsky especially when he was a guest rabbi at Congregation Sinai. When called up to the Bima, he would give you a tootie roll after reading a passage.

As the second President of Congregation Sinai it was my great pleasure to have Rabbi Romirowski as our spirtual leader for the High Holidays. I will forever treasure the picture I have of me and the Rabbi doing the motzi at Jenkins in 2007.

We have heard so many wonderful things about Rabbi Romirowsky. We are sad that we arrived at Congrgegation Sinai too late to know him; however, we are aware of how much he shaped our Congregation. He was clearly a transforming force.

Rabbi Romirowsky's presence at Congregation Sinai in Clermont, Florida over the years was an inspiration to all of its congregants.

January 19, 2012

I am saddened by the news of Rabbi Romirowsky's passing. He and Blanche were very special to the Dobin/Slotnick/Ross family. As original members of OCJCC,from my confirmation and marriage through Bat Mitzvahs and weddings of other family members, to taking time to making a Shiva call on my husbands passing, he was always so caring and thoughtful. When my mother Ceil Dobin was on the Board, he was pivotal in her life as she experienced her ups and downs. He had always been there for us. .I am grateful to have had his presence in my life

Rabbi was a vital part of our High Holiday Services in Clermont,Florida. He was with us for 4 years and helped to mold our new infant Synagogue. We still use the template for Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur that he created for us. Whenever we called him or visited him, he always asked after our members by name. We were looking forward to his coming to Del Ray so we could visit him. He will be missed by Congregation Sinai in Clermont, Florida.

Rita and George Slotnick

January 19, 2012

we have wonderful memories having spent a lot of time with both Rabbi and Blanche. Their time visiting us in Arizona and the fun we had then, to the times he spent with us here in Florida. In addition, the shared mitzvahs at our daughters bat mitzvah or their weddings or baby naming, we have only wonderful memories. We introduced Rabbi to a new synagogue and enjoyed watching him enjoy his new leaf on life. He was back in a pulpit where he belonged and loved so much. We will miss him dearly but we will never forget him.

January 19, 2012

We can related to all of the posts. Rabbi J. Harold was our Rabbi. He officiated at Joel's bar mitzvah, my confirmation and wedding, my sister's bat mitzvah and wedding, funerals and Shiva's. Yes, he remembered all the names of our family members, photos hanging from walls in our homes, names of all of his students, etc. Please accept condolences from the Timerman and Tafler families.

Rabbi Romirowsky, z"l, was an integral part of our lives. From Bnei Mitzvah to Weddings and from births to funerals, we will always remember how much he taught all of us. He was a gifted and unique inspiration to the entire community. His life brought us blessings - may his memory be a blessing.

Ray Verbit

January 17, 2012

His memory will always be a blessing. I'll never forget how I had not seen him in over 25 years and he knew who I was the instant he saw me. He will always be my image of a Rabbi. How he would quiet a noisy congregation with a "look" was magic. I fondly remember the tent, wooden chairs and the 50's at OCJCC. HIs sermons set the standard for other Rabbis to achieve.

January 17, 2012

I recently visited with Rabbi, as he most recently lived around the corner from my shul, Adath Israel. He needed a small favor - but so characteristic of him, during the visit, he taught and gave me so much more than I could possibly give him. He was my first childhood rabbi... and many things I do now (toy giveaways at Ne'ilah!...) come from my memories of his rabbinic presence. His memory should be a blessing. - Rabbi Eric Yanoff

January 17, 2012

I was just one of the hundreds of OCJCC kids. But I felt special because I was a Gilham Street neighbor. The Rabbi and my mother cut a deal to shorten my Bar Mitzvah Torah reading portion in exchange for finishing my last year of Hebrew school. I felt privileged to have known the Ramirowsky family, albeit many years without contact. That being said, when my mother passed away, J. Harold presided over her service, and most recently on the passing of my father, Mitchell brought much comfort to the Fine family. My heartfelt sympathy to Blanche, Mitchell, Sammy and Reuben.

There have been very few people in my life that I held in such high regard as Rabbi Romirowsky. Although we did not see one another for many years until just recently, I loved every minute we spent with him, as did my wife (Dana) and children (Matthew and Sarah), and I will always treasure his advice as well as his warmth. He will forever be remembered.

What a HUGE loss to our community and to ALL of Judaism. A magnificent Jew; a magnificent man.

A monument must be built to PHYSICALLY commemorate the life of this great man...a man who did a LOT more good deeds, than most of us know.

We all mourn his "physical" loss, but his soul and good deeds will live FOREVER!

Rabbi was ALWAYS there for me and my family. He took the time to make sure questions were answered thoroughly and he made the time to help me with a deeper understanding of the prayer services than I had previously many years ago.
I believe he and his colleagues are the last of the breed of the 'old time' rabbi that was ALWAYS there for his congregation in many different ways.
He will be missed.

The Rabbi played a large part in my Jewish upbringing while I attended school at OCJCC ...which continues to influence my study of the Torah some 45yrs after my Bar Mitzvah. Both my brother and I both had our Bar Mitzvahs and weddings officiated by the Rabbi.

My family's hearts go out to Blanche and his sons. He held a wealth of Jewish knowledge which he shared with his congregation. He will sorely be missed by those that came in contact with him on a regular basis in the Shul.
