It's been two years and I still can't believe that Ralph is gone. There are so many things I wish I could have said to him when he was still here.
There is so much missed time that can't be regained. Ralph you were an amazing person in life and death and I'll never forget you.

My deepest condolences to the Sando family. He provided excellent eye care for my mother, Nellie Wilson, and me. He was the kindest doctor I had ever met with and took great patience and caring with my mother during a very critical time in her life. He will be missed. Sincerely, Zoe A. Holmes

Dear Joyce, Ralph Jr., Blake and Holly. Keith and I were saddened to hear of Ralph's passing and are so very sorry for your loss. Whether as neighbor, friend or doctor, Ralph had a smile and a demeanor that brightened the day of anyone who came in contact with him. He was indeed a source of light for everyone. His humor and wit were always delivered with a warmth that made each person he was with feel special, and especially liked. So much was lost with Ralph's passing. I will miss Ralph & his dry wit. I met him when he was still in Medical School. He truly knew that the art of caring for a patient was " caring for the patient". He will be missed.

Despite his illness Dr. Ralph never lost the ability to extend himself to others. He was a compassionate doctor. I will miss his friendship and good counsel. My prayers are with all of the Sando family.

I will always remember Ralph and the kindness and generosity he showed to me and my family. He was an amazing father, a caring doctor and a role model for myself and my brother. We didn't see him as often as we would have liked but he always made us feel welcome and I will always remember his amazing smile. He will be missed by everyone who ever knew him, but his spirit will live on in our memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Joyce and my cousins.

I'll always value and appreciate the courtesy that Dr. Sando showed me each time I saw him. His friendly nature could brighten up the worst of days. The mark he has left on so many people is eternal and I feel very fortunate that I had the chance to know him. He will truly be missed.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Sando’s passing. He was an excellent Ophthalmologist, a gentleman, and a scholar. I feel blessed to have known him and had my eyesight cared for by such a wonderful doctor. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time. From the time that I met Dr. Sando at Wills Eye Hospital more than 20 years ago our friendship evolved. Although we had a business relationship that was one of a kind our personal friendship was always special. I'am saddened to hear this news but know that what Earth has lost, Heaven has surely gained. Dear Joyce and Family,
It was such a shock first to hear this summer of Ralph's illness and now of his untimely passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult days. Since those halcyon days at Yale and evenings at DKE, it is always troubling that contact with classmates does not continue unabated. But our fond memories do last forever, so Ralph's character, positive outlook and amazing smile will be with us all forever.

I am so sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. Although I haven't seen him since I graduated from Bonner in 1964. I played football with Ralph and just remember a nice,quiet and soft spoken guy-until you got on the football field! He was the type of person you just remembered!

Dear Joyce and family,
We were so very saddened to learn of Ralph's passing. He was the consummate gentleman and compassionate physician. He took great care of each person's vision in our family. He always had a positive remark and we all appreciated his joking and light-hearted nature and his winning smile. He set the standard for medical professionalism and thoroughness. Ralph was genuinely happy to take the time to inquire about the well being of your family. He was very special. I can name very few doctors who display this type sincere interest today. Ralph was a unique,sincere, courageous gentleman who will be greatly missed. We were priveleged to know him. God has called an angel home.

We were saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Ralph Sando. I saw him as a patient and he always had a smile on his face and a welcoming demeanor. He never forgot that I was not only a patient but a professional colleague. We also enjoyed seeing him and his wife at the Union League. They were fellow members of the Lincoln Table and we would see them enjoying themselves at numerous League events. We will keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Having lost track of Ralph upon our graduation from Yale did not mean that I forgot what a great guy he was. I was blessed to have known him and now wish that somehow we could have stayed in touch over the years. He lived his life just as he lived his days in college. He will certainly be missed.

I met Ralph at Yale in 1966 when we both joined the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Ralph has been a great friend all these years. I am going to miss him. You were one of the most dignified people I've known. Your compassion to myself, my sister and my mother over the years will never be forgotten. Your quiet understanding and warm nature I'll never forget.
You always had a word of advice or reassurance whenever I'd see you no matter how often or rare that was. I remember Ralph more than most, having grown up close to the Sandos and being at their house many times. I always looked up to him as a great athlete and never really thought of him as an accomplished student and highly regarded physician. I am sure the Sando family is very proud of Rlaph and his gifts to his family and patients.
