Dear Heffner Family, I have so many wonderful memories of your Dad. One that I will never forget after our games he would take us to his basement and play We Are The Champions of the world! Even if we lost. We had so much fun singing. What a great man always making children feel good. RIP Mr. Heffner.

Dear Uncle Ray, I have lots of good memories of the times we spent together! Especially the summer you all came out to visit. Such a fun time and I know it meant the world to Mom, spending time with her brother and his family. I also remember the way you would sign your cards TCB. Very cool just like you. RIP Uncle Ray Love your niece, Peggy

Uncle Ray, Thanks for the many great memories I have of you and your family, especially when you came to the St. Louis area to visit back in the early 1970's; with MoMo the monster scare, and many backyard baseball, football and whiffleball games. I was also proud of the fact that you wore my Navy ship patch - USS Decatur DDG 31 - on your colors. With Love and fond memories, your nephew Jim Blackketter.

It saddened me to hear of the loss of Mr Heffner. I have known the family for 40+ yrs and had the pleasure of reconnecting with Joe "Snake" thru basketball! Mr Heffner had an amazing way with kids, always volunteering. He was Inky family. May you all find comfort with family & friends at this difficult time. Rest peacefully Mr Heffner your light will FOREVER shine. With my deepest condolences, Debby Roark

I remember when I was 9 years old, Mr. Heffner was an assistant coach for a baseball team I hoped to play for (the Olney Kubs). During my first practice with the team, with no real understanding of how to catch a baseball, I was standing behind two other people during a drill where the first person was supposed to field the ball, the second person was supposed to get it if the first person didn't - and the third person was rarely involved. In my case, the ball was hit a little too far and sailed past the other two kids and plunked me in the mouth. It looked bad - but I was fine. I went to the hospital and had my mouth stitched up. But one thing that always amazed me was Mr. Heffner, for many years later, always asked about me - and always seemed concerned about me - like the ball might have done permanent damage. Happily it didn't, but I always appreciated the concern and the constant questions about it long after the fact.
