Richard E. Rod

Rod Richard E. Age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Horsham Center for Jewish Life. He was the loving husband of 60 years to Irma (Colon) Rod. Born in Philadelphia, Richard was the son of the late Joseph and Dolores Rod. Richard was raised in Philadelphia where he graduated from Frankford High School. He was a Yo Yo champion in his youth. He also was a regular dancer on American Bandstand. His love of music and dancing persisted to the end. He loved spending time at the beach and taught anyone willing to learn how to bodysurf. He married the love of his life Irma. They together ran a successful dog grooming business for over 40 years in Jenkintown, PA. He had a rare gift with animals, especially dogs, who sensed his gentle spirit and responded with unwavering loyalty. His connection with them was something truly special, bringing comfort and companionship in a way only he could. They enjoyed traveling and time with family. Richard was a family man. He cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild above all. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Irma, he is survived by his daughters, Victoria Mitchell (Kevin) and Kimberly Schea (Frederick); grandchildren Richard (Connor), Quinton, Joseph, Carter, Daniel, Helena and Landon; great grandchild Emerson; sister Faith, along with many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his brother Walter. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2024 at the Montgomery Township Building at 1030 Horsham Road, Montgomeryville, PA 18936 from 12 - 3 P.M., all are welcome.
