ROBERT A. BARR JR.

BARR - Revised ROBERT A., JR. Age 87, died on October 7, 2021, at Foulkeways at Gwynedd of complications during treatment for cancer. Bob had a long career in college administration, serving as Dean of Men (1962-1970) and Dean of Admissions (1977-1994) at Swarthmore College, his alma mater. He also worked at Chatham College and Dickinson College. In retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time on Cape Cod and Sanibel Island. He also served on the Board of Directors at Foulkeways and on the School Committee for Germantown Friends School. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor (Nony) Barr, two sons, Richard (Kristin Davitt) and Jeffrey, four grandsons (Matthew, Kellan, David and Elliot) and his brother David W. Barr (Donna). A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to a scholarship fund established in his honor by a group of Swarthmore alumni.
