ROBERT CAREY Obituary
ROBERT JOHN passed away suddenly on April 14, 2010 at 40 years of age. Beloved son of Robert and Patricia (nee Garlick). Survived by his loving sister Tricia (Lenny Lewanski), his niece and Godchild Macie Lynn. Sadly missed by his fiance and soulmate Morgan Casey, many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and Godchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Monday Evening beginning at 6 P.M. in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 E. Susquehanna Ave. (Girard Ave. Exit I95)., Fishtown, where a service of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30 P.M. Int. private.

I would like to thank everyone for your kind words, and all of your thoughts and prayers. Please know that Bobby's family will forever be grateful to his friends that loved him so much, we will cherish that forever. Its the hardest thing we ever had to do, and that is to go on without you here. We just wish you were here with us where you belong. Not a day goes by that we don't see or hear something that reminds us of you. Even though we go on like everything is fine, our hearts ache for you everyday. You were our hero and great problem solver just like your dad and so I feel at times you are still with us. I hope you are having a good time up there with your friends. Bobby, we are never going to forget the good times we shard with you. We will cherish all of your funny moments growing up and certainly your sister Tricia will hold dear all of your teasing, but loving times the two of you shared. You were strong willed and stubborn and certainly did things your way, but at the same time you were very caring and giving (too much of yourself sometimes). We'll remember you mostly for your great sense of humor and your ability to make others believe in themselves. You will also be sadly missed by your fiance Morgan, who will cherish your love to the end of time. Lenny sends his love and misses you as all of your friends do. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Carey,
Robert was a student in my Experimental Psychology class at Rutgers University (Spring 2010). As I reflect upon my interactions with Robert, I quickly recall his bright smile and curious spirit. I remember his enthusiasm as he related a story to me about linking a class lecture on pseudoscience with a real-world situation about a chiropractic technique a friend discussed with him. As he recounted the story, I remember thinking how happy and joyful he was to tell me how lessons from the course applied to his life outside of the classroom. It was a really fun moment to share with Robert.
There was another time when he proudly remarked how well he had improved on writing a lab report in my class. (To provide you with some context, lab reports were generally considered daunting assignments by many students.) While we were in lab, he reviewed his lab report grade. "That's the best grade so far," he said enthusiastically. And then he said that the next report would be even better. His said that with a smile and with great determination. I can assure you that Robert clearly demonstrated his motivation to succeed in my course.
I am going to miss Robert. He was a joy to get to know this semester. His positive outlook was contagious and very welcomed. Robert showed great potential and achieved many goals this semester. I am glad to have known Robert.
And yet, it is with a heavy heart that I ask that you please accept my condolences.

I was a friend and classmate of Bob's on and off throughout 6 years of college, we were both on the verge of graduating. He was an immensely friendly and hilarious individual. He was without a doubt, someone I would never forget. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. RIP Brother.

Today is the day we say goodbye. I'll be honest, I don't pray much. I don't think it makes any sense to pray to the same GOD that takes the people we love away and forces us to deal with the pain that comes with it.
