ROBERT, July 15, 2013. Son of Dr. Barry (Karen) Getzoff and Arline Shapiro, brother of Richard (Stefanie) Getzoff, Laura (Michael) Grubb, Joshua Getzoff and Elizabeth Getzoff, uncle of Julia, Matthew and Ryan. Robert was a graduate of George Washington University and Temple Law. He had an MBA from Georgetown University. He was a lobbyist for Bank of New York Melon.
Private Services will be held. Contributions in his memory may be made to any favorite animal charity of your choice or charity of the donor's choice.

I miss Rob. It feels like I just talked with him. He helped me get my first job on the Hill, shortly after I met him in 2006. Since then, he remained a good friend and mentor. He had a knack for leaving me feeling better about myself and more at ease after each of our interactions. I know he has found his happy place, as well. You're the man, Rob.

Rob and I laughed together for over half our lives. Elementary school, overnight camp, ice hockey, staying at his grand parents house in Margate countless weekends, Travelling together to The Greek Islands,hanging out with Duff McKagen (the bass player from Guns N' Roses, and so many other wonderful times and fond memories. As my brother put it, we grew up in each other's homes. I have been thinking about and reliving so many of our experiences over and over again in my head. I am thinking about all of the Getzoff family.

Dear Getzoff family, I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. Rob's laugh always filled the room or the other end of the phone whenever we talked about old cars, rock concerts and most recently when, out of the blue, he explained why mountain lions were showing up on the East Coast. I'm very sad for the loss of such a generous, warm, and funny person. At Georgetown and at our internship at the Motley Fool, I knew that no matter what was going on, it would be fun if Rob was involved. He had a great dry wit that was usually followed up by a riotous laugh. You couldn't stop yourself at smiling with Rob around.

I last saw Rob at a Van Halen concert in downtown DC in March 2012 where he treated me to a wide grin and his famous laugh. He certainly enjoyed that concert -- significantly more than I did, I should note!
