Robert J. Stinson

Stinson Robert J. Robert J. "Bob" Stinson, of Philadelphia, passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 92. Bob is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Stinson; cherished granddaughter, Kasey Barnes (John Malloy); and brother-in-law, Brendan. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth Stinson; his daughter, Kathleen Barnes; and his sisters, Margaret Foley and Donna Schmincky (Frank). Born and raised in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Margaret Stinson. He was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School. Following graduation, he served his country honorably as a United States Marine during the Korean War. After his military service, Bob began a long career with the Philadelphia Police Department, serving in the 26th District before retiring from the Crime Lab. Even in retirement, he continued working as a security officer with Merakey. Bob was a devoted family man, dedicated to his wife and daughters. He especially loved attending his granddaughter's softball games from grade school through college, and taking Ruth out to dinner-even when she didn't want to go. A lover of animals, he adored his dogs Bumba, Griffy, and Sophie. He was hardworking, loyal, and a lifelong fan of Philadelphia sports. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life on Friday, October 3, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19114. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the animal charity of your choice.
