I neglected to mention this earlier: One of the Life Lessons I got from Bob was taught at 5 AM one cold morning. We had a sailor who was depressed, became suicidal, and climbed about 100 ft. up the ship's mast. Later he came down, and began wandering the ship aimlessly, with a knife.
Bob got to that poor confused kid first. When I found them he was sitting with the sailor, hearing him out, and taking him into the wardroom for a place to have some coffee and calm down. He saved that man's life. We all grew up that night---by watching Bob in action.
God Bless You, shipmate

As a "shipmate" from USS Raleigh, I can tell you he made life bearable. His "one liners" when everything was absolutely miserable would have all the officers in stitches...and that got us up and working again.
At first I thought he was a gruff "old" man. I soon realized he was not much older but was a very much wiser version of the 21 year old ensigns on the ship, and we learned much from him, both about the Navy and about life in general.
God Bless ya, Bob...and God Take You Home.

Condolences from all of us at Greenwich Terminals / Port of Philadelphia. Bob worked here for sometime, before moving on to the construction industry. I can say for all of our employees, Bob was a pleasure to have on the Greenwich team, we were all fond of his "one liners" that seemingly came from nowhere. A gentle soul who will be missed. Our apologies for not attending his services, we just found out this morning.
God bless Bob, God Bless his family that he's left behind. David Whene / President / Greenwich Terminals

I am so very sorry for your loss. I will miss my cousin Bobby more than you know. None of us could make arrangements so quickly, we are so sorry we can't be there. We will be saying a prayer for all of you tomorrow and in the days, weeks and months to come. Take comfort in knowing my dad was there to welcome him home!
Love to all of you,
