Before Sam was my co-worker in the podiatry school in Philadelphia, he was a student a year ahead of me, but we were both older students. We got to watch each other grow professionally. He was awesome with the amount of talent he could bring to bear on the many issues that beset podiatric medicine and TUSPM in particular. He would often stop by my desk in the Gait Study Center with a statistical analysis or a mathematical model for in depth discussion. Eventually, these inspired him to compose a course in Epidemiology for general education. With our research coordinator, Dana Tango, we put a lot of thought into this course, but it was an idea that came too early.
