STEPHEN SLAVIN Obituary
STEPHEN J., SR., on Dec. 20, 2015. Beloved father of Stephen J. Jr. and Seamus. Devoted brother of James Jr. (Monica), Michael, Susan Webb (Herbert), John (Susanne), Peter, Patrick and Constance. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Sunday Evening 7 to 9 P.M. and Monday 9 A.M. WACKERMAN FUNERAL HOME, 8060 Verree Rd., Phila. PA 19111 followed by Funeral Mass 10 A.M. St. Cecilia Church. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Rockledge 4th of July Assn., 121 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046 would be appreciated.

I just found out today that my dear old friend Dutch(Steve Slavin) had passed away around Christmas time. This is devastating news to me as I had hoped we'd get together in the near future. We grew up in West Oak Lane and had lots of great times in the old neighborhood and then when we both moved to Montco in 1971. We were best of friends back in the early 70s and I will forever consider him one of the best friends in my life even though we lost contact thru much of our adult lives. We reconnected a few years ago and I will be forever grateful for that.
My sincerest condolences to his sons and the rest of the family who I know as well.
Rest easy my friend. Always in my heart buddy!

My heart goes out to all of the Slavin's. I had but a blip in time spent in the company of this fine family back in the mid-eighties. I had the pleasure of days enjoying many smiles, beers, toasts, and tears with Steve, his parents, Jim and Connie; his siblings, Frenchyn(James Jr.), Mike, Sue, Connie Jr., Pete, Patrick, and later his babies with Marian, Stephen and Seamus. I have never forgotten Steve's kindness when in my darkest hours of grief, he was first to help me when he worked for Boise Cascade as a trucker. He garnered a whole 18-wheeler of Boise's, as well as half of Rockledge, to help me move after my love and living companion Donnie Gloster's sudden and tragic passing two days before Christmas in 1987. The entire Slavin family exemplify and epitomize the definition of community and FAMILY. I'm honored to know I was a part of that community for a few years, and more honored to have known Steve, to whose memory I shall toast a Michelob whilst shouting, "Slainte' ". All of my love to his family and friends, always...

Although I only know you from Breen's on Saturday night's, I have enjoyed getting to know you and I have heard of the entire Slavin family for many years. As soon as you found out I was Scott's daughter, you treated me like your niece from that point on and always watched out for me. I will be forever grateful for that. You will be missed. My thoughts are with your family.

When we were growing up in Germantown and Mt. Airy, my cousion steve and i were playing in his basement. He was spinning me in a chair, I fell back and hit my head. My mom was in the hospital and my aunt connie had us for the week. I needed three stiches in my head. Boy, I felt really bad cause steve got in so much trouble from my uncle Jimmy. Just tolet you all know that Steve was my moms favorite (Aunt Dot). Will miss u.
