I find it hard to realize that Stuart passed away almost two years ago! He was such a good friend. I miss his calm and quiet demeanor and his subtle sense of humor. Lots of fond memories!

Stu was a suitemate during sophomore year at college, and although more than half a century has passed since those days, I will never forget his total dedication to his studies. I can recall on a Saturday night, he would be immersed in drosophila genetics! My sincere condolences on your loss.

What a shock it was to learn just now of Stuart's passing. Stuart had a brilliant mind, a generous spirit and a great sense of humor. I met Stuart in Rochester NY when he was a grad student; he was close friends with my husband Bob Minzesheimer. They met at Francis Lewis high school in Queens. I last saw Stuart at Bob's funeral several years ago and am sorry I did not keep in touch more often since he was here in DC. Pat, my thoughts are with you. And to Stuart's family - although I never had the chance to meet you, he spoke of you often and I know how greatly he loved and admired you.

Missing my old friend! Stuart was my Philadelphia Naudain Street neighbor for many years and a great bike buddy. I have so many wonderful memories (and funny stories) of the many biking weekends our small group would take over the years. Judy & I were happy to visit Pat & Stuart in their Philly home and then in their DC home. As I write this... I see his face and hear his voice. I will miss him & will always remember him... with a smile. RIP Stuart.

I met Stuart as a Post-doc when we were both beginning our independent careers. He was a staunch advocate for our field and will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Sorry I never met you Pat. Stuart was a postdoc when I was a graduate student at Harvard ~40 years ago. We went in different directions with our research and I lost touch with him. But lucky for me, I started working on sperm again and I got to interact with him again, as he ended up as the Program Director for my recent grant. I just sent him an email and got the news. I am so sad.

I met Stuart in Boston more than 40 years ago when I worked in a lab down the hall from him. We quickly became friends-he had a wonderful sense of humor, was intelligent, and thoughtful. He joined me on runs to break-up long days in the lab and was always available to cheer me up when experiments were not going as I´d hoped. He became a good friend of my then boyfriend, Peter, signed our Ketubah when we married in 1983, and we remained friends despite living miles apart. I was lucky to visit him and Pat in Pennsylvania and DC. I wish there had been more visits. The pandemic provided an opportunity via Zoom to strengthen our friendship and to get to know Pat better. I will miss him deeply. My condolences to his family and friends.

What a profoundly sad loss. I work with Stuart at NICHD - the words that come to mind when I think of him gentleman, kind, smart, funny, hard working - just a really good human being. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Moss's passing. Though I did not get to know him well, I was impressed with his kindness and gentle outreach. May you and all mourners be comforted.

I can picture Stuart sitting on the stoop of his house next door to mine on Naudain St. in Philadelphia. I can hear his voice and NY accent. He was about my oldest friend in Philadelphia - over 30 years. He was smart, funny, kind and loved his family. I introduced him to his companion of 20 years, Pat Pileggi, and had the happiness to see their relationship take hold and grow. Now, I am devastated that he is gone. What a good guy he was, and what a loss.

I knew Stuart for close to 40 years, first as post-docs in adjoining laboratories. Later, we were long-time collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania before he moved to the National Institutes of Health. Stuart was a great friend, colleague, and mentor to many. He was probably one of the most principled people I have ever known. He also taught me a lot about the value of family with his commitments to his parents, sister, and niece. I will miss his humor, gentle spirit, Flag Day Celebrations, and March Madness pools! My condolences to all who knew him.

I was a post-doc with Stuart in Mark Groudine's lab many years ago. We lost touch over the years, but he has always had a special place in my heart. Such a warm, good-hearted friend and colleague. I am so very sad to hear this. My heartfelt sympathy to Stuart's family.
