WALT BENTKOWSKI Obituary

BENTKOWSKI WALT 91, passed away July 22, 2021, in St. Augustine, FL. He was born to Walter Sr. and Julia Bentkowski, in Philadelphia, PA. He and his sister Irene attended St. Adalbert Catholic School. There he first met Dolores Orzechowski, who would become his future wife of 64 years. He was a 1947 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps. A member of the Seafarers International Union, he sailed on Liberty ships in the Merchant Marine. Walt and Dolores were married in St. Adalbert Catholic Church in 1950. He was employed by Phila. Ship Maintenance Co. (later Philly Ship) before he moved to St. Augustine, FL. He is survived by a daughter, Karen, and nieces and nephew, Cynthia Gage-Palumbo, Gwendolyn Waranis and Thomas Gage. He had a sister Irene Gage and Godson Michael Gage, both deceased. Mass donations are requested. Donations in his memory may be made to the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, Philadelphia.
