Happy Birthday Pop.

Today has been a hard day. Knowing that it is your birthday and you are not here. I have been trying to keep myself busy so I would not really be thinking about it but it is hard. I try to think back on all your birthdays that we have shared. You enjoyed them so much or was it the cake and ice cream that you enjoyed. My favorite birthday of yours was in 2003. We were in Florida visiting Uncle Jack and it was our last night. We all went to this Italian resturant for dinner. Debbie & Roger picked up a cake for you. The reason this is my favorite is because who would on known that this would of been the last time you were to see your brother.

I Love You and Miss You.

Wow, I can't believe it has been two months since you passed on. Alot has happened. On March 13 Patrick & Shannon had a son Patrick Jr. On March 22 Kenny & Angela had another daughter Peyton. They are both so cute. Patrick Jr. looks just like Patrick. Peyton looks just like BrendaLynn. Peyton was born sick though and had to stay in the hospital longer. On April 21 Tina and Ed got married. What a great day and time we all had. On April 30 Dad took December to the Vet because she lost alot of weight and was not eating. He found out that she has cancer all throught her body. On May 1 she had to be put down. She was suffering to much.

You know all this already. As you have past over into the after life and are watching over all of us.

I hope you are haveing a great time with your parents, Uncle Jack, Aunt Rose, Sabu, Brutice, Spike and now December. Walking through the field of Ireland.

I miss you.

I never thought that this day would come. I think of all the things we used to do when I was just a young boy. Going to my first Phillies game with you right by my side, and going to the circus there were a lot of firsts with you, I will never forget going to the Thrill Show (wish that was still around)How about Friday nites at West point park(also no longer around)and even going to the Firebirds games. I also remember as a young child being in the childrens hospital of Philadelphia CHOP as it is called I remember you and Billy comming every nite to see me and I cried every time you left.
Pop I miss you and love if I make it as long as you did I will see you again in 50 years.

It was so sad to hear about Pop's passing. As long as I can remember I've always seen him during christmas, family events and when I'd vist my cousins. He was a great man who loved his family very much. I'm so sorry for the loss his family is feeling now. Just remember he is no longer in pain and that he's still watching over you.

To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am Gone, Release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I travelled on alone

So Grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let you grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories in you heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Thought you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear

Then, when you must come this way alone
I will great you with a smile and a
"Welcome Home"

We have all come together today in unity for one perhaps. That is to honor William A. Boyle II, better know my most as Pop. A father, a grandfather, and a great grand father’s final wishes. And for us all to find a way to say good by to a man we all loved.
Pop is no longer with us but we will not forget him. I will never forget his love and support that he gave me. When I sit back and think of the pass and all the great things that we did together it brings a smile to my face. Pop was a very kind and loving man. His love for his children and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were all very strong. Most of all his love for dog’s.
I will miss our weekend trips to the mall. Where we would stop and eat at Friendy’s. As I would say have our fat girl portions, a cheeseburger for me and a Bacon Cheeseburger for Pop, with fry’s and a milkshake. Then it would be off to Kiddy city (when it was still open) where we would just walk around for hours looking at all the toys. When I had my fill, we would go to Woolworths were once again we just looked. We always had to stop in the store that made funny T-shirt. Pop loved any shirt that had a funny saying on it. One time I counted my t-shirts that he got for me and I had 39 t-shirts. Who needs 39 t-shirts? Once Pop had picked out his shirt for the week, (based on who birthday or what ever holiday was coming up), it was off to Dairy Queen where we both got a cone for the bus ride home.
I will miss our trips in the summer to the city. I so loved them and wish that we could have just one more trip. Pop always talked about going to the Franklin Mint. However, they were always closed on the days that we went, so we never got to go. But we did go to The Liberty Bell, Betsey Ross House, Penn’s landing, and one of the museums that I wanted to go to on that day. On our trips to the city I always learned so much and miss them.
One of the hardest things about this week is the flower show. It was our thing. We would get up early. Hope on the train and try to beat the crowed there. Pop always looked for the two flower shops from Chestnut Hill. Where he would stay and talk with the people about the old days. We could never leave without finding a vender that was selling shamrocks. Pop always had to have shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day! This year’s theme is honoring him it is Ireland and I think he would have loved it and wish he was still with us and able to go.
How could I forget about the yearly trips to the Circes? I don’t know who looked forward to them more Pop or us kids. I don’t know what he like more the clowns or the stunts that were being done on the rings, high wire, and with the motorcycles.
Pop was always so very proud to be Irish. And yes that too has rub off on me like many other things. He had no shame on passing gas as most of you. He told us kids that a true Boyle can belch loud and long. I remember trying to teach Patrick. Now he is almost imposable to beat at a belching contest. I can recall sitting at the dinner table, and one of us kids would belch and mom would get up set and tell us not to do it. Then Pop or dad would belch. After awhile mom just gave up.
Talking about Pop’s gas! It always seamed to be that he was only able to let it all out when going up the steps or walking. Most of the time he didn’t even know that he was doing it until we said something to him. It was not too bad unless you were the one standing behind him as he was going up the steps.
I will never forget how Pop would hum and close his eyes as he enjoyed mom’s dinner. I use to sit there and watch him eat because he always got such satisfaction when eating. It would make me laugh. Pop always knew how to make us laugh and have fun. Who could forget the faces he would make to us, (Make the face to the people so they can recall the face) or about the story’s he would tell us. They were always from his past, the news or his trip to Florida to see his brother. Pop loved it when he would find someone who would sit there and listen to him tell his stories. Once he found someone, every time that they come into our house he would have another story to tell them.
I don’t think that any of us will forget that Pop could never get all of our names right. I don’t know how many times I was Meg or Kim. I know that we all look a like but not that close. Or how about the time when Kenny, my brother, was sitting next to me and Pop asked me if that was my new boyfriend. But Pop never forgot the names of our dogs. He always got them right and always took great care of them. Even when he was in the Nursing Home, he always asked about all of the dogs. If they were ok; had plenty of food and water; if it was too hot or cold where would they be sleeping.
Every night Pop would fight with us kids over who was going to watch their show on TV that night. He always had to watch the news from 5-7pm. That was two hours every night. And on top of that, he had his scanner attached to his hip every second of everyday. Pop always had to know what was going on everywhere. And every night he had his scanner and radio up so loud that it kept me up most nights. Then I got smart and waited for him to fall a sleep and then go into his room and turn them down. He thought that there was something wrong with his scanner and radio. I laugh and told him what I was doing and from then on he tried to keep the volume down.
Not only did Pop have to know what was going on with the news but with everyone one in the house. He always had 50 questions. Who, what, where, when, why, and how. Even if we had already talked to our parents about what was going on he always had to know everything. I always asked him if he were righting a book. He would always say yes, I am on Chapter 16. When I would call from school or come home I always asked him how his book was going and he would always say great I am onto the next chapter. Where did he put the book, I would love to read it?
Oh how Pop loved his instant coffee and a pecan swirl in the morning. He did however always manage to get the coffee grinds all over. You could tell that he tried to clean them up but he always missed some. No matter what day of the week is was Pop was always up by 5am and ready for work before 6 am even though he didn’t have to be there until 8 am. And some days he would get up extra early thinking that it was 6am. Pop would then bang on my door until I got up thinking I was late for school. Thank you for getting me up at 4 a.m. when I didn’t have to be up for two more hours!
How could I forget about the dollar or bottle of soda that he would have for me to take to school everyday. I wish I was smarter and kept the money, a dollar a day for four years adds up and I could have had more money for beer in college!
Who could ever forget about Pop’s sweet tooth? We had to hide our candy around Halloween and Easter. If we didn’t there would never be any left for when we were able to have some. Pop always had some candy in his pockets and up in his room. We always had to check his pockets before washing them or else we would have candy all over our wash. And mom did try to keep enough sweets in the house for him but he always needed more. I guess that’s why I can’t remember Pop with teeth.
I thought that is was so funning and so un cool that in the summer Pop would have on a pair of shorts with keen high socks. It just didn’t fit but he was comfortable like that.
His love for any kind of Irish or American shirts. Oh he was so proud of his Irish Grand pop shirts. He wore them all the time. Dad has to go on a special trip to the laundry room at the Nursing Home because he couldn’t find some of his shirts. He was very happy when dad came back with his missing shirts. I don’t know what Pop like best the Irish or the American shirts.
Thinking of American shirts! One year for Charismas Pop gave my mother an American Flag sweeter. It was the most offal sweeter anyone has ever seen. And when she pulled it to show everyone the sound in the room was price less. But Pop was so very proud of that sweeter. So I took it to school and wear it all the time.
I can never thank Pop enough for eating all the foods that my parents tried to feed me. It was like a game. If I didn’t want to eat something like my vegetables I would wait until he was not looking and then put them on his plate. When he looked back he would look up to see if something else was falling from the sky like that was were they came from. He never said anything he just ate it. So thank you for saving me from Spanish.
Now that Pop is gone I don’t know what to do. Should I cry or should I be happy for Pop. For now he is no longer in pain. I have told myself that he is in Ireland with his mother, father and brother. I hope that one day many years from now that I will see Pop again. But until then I will write to him, visit him, and pray to him when ever I can. God Bless and rest in peace I Love You.
