Rev. William J. BYRON

BYRON Rev. William J., SJ Age 96, died at Manresa Hall, Merion Station, PA on April 9, 2024. Father was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. and Mary (Langton) Byron, and brother, Harold, Jr. He is survived by his sister-in- law, Marta, devoted nephews and nieces, and his Jesuit brothers. Father Byron, a native of Pittsburgh, graduated from Saint Joseph's Prep in 1950, after which he entered the Society of Jesus. He was ordained a priest in 1961. After receiving his doctorate in economics from the University of Maryland, Father taught at Loyola University, Baltimore, Georgetown University, and Saint Joseph's University. He also served as president of the University of Scranton, Catholic University of America, and Saint Joseph's Prep, and was pastor at Holy Trinity Parish in Washington, D.C. Visitation at Saint Matthias Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10 A.M. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 A.M.
